Reposted by Prof. 9Imran Khan @imrankhan.bsky.social · 24/09/2026This is, I think, one of the best Metroidvanias of the last 15 years and you can EASILY finish it within this timeframe. Hell, you don't even need to feel bad about not paying Ubisoft, because they disbanded the team, anyway!! Also it runs at a (99% consistent) 60 FPS on Switch. Do it do it do it. 517940
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 19/09/2026Akira 4K Restoration (IMAX) It's hard for me to gauge how influential this film was, but it sure is spectacular. It's engaging though it never really drew me in. I guess I would have liked to see a bit more subtlety and suspense, which I imagine the manga probably has. Sound design was pretty good. 130
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 09/09/2026That was a different situation. ZZX didn't have a proper mod loader at the time and people were just modifying the EXE directly. I think the same goes for XLC. For SFLC, we're lucky to be able to use the already quite mature REFramework. 030
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 09/09/2026That's not really true at all. You can still develop and run mods just fine. It's just more annoying for certain types of mods to debug them since you can't easily attach a debugger. 110
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 09/09/2026From a consumer perspective, Enigma is probably better. It's completely offline, no online license check, no activation limit. From a mod developer perspective I'd much rather have Denuvo. Enigma has much harsher anti-debug protection. Denuvo really doesn't get in the way of mod development at all. 180

A decent bite-sized little mystery novel, but things devolve quickly after the first true ending & it's honestly not really worth playing past that. 111

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 18/08/2026It may seem like a pretty simple mod but bolting everything onto the existing GUI and audio systems and having it all work seamlessly took quite some effort. Hopefully the next mod will be something a little simpler, lol. 081

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 12/08/2026The Odyssey (IMAX) A phenomenal retelling of an old classic, that cleverly invokes modern themes to feel incredibly grounded despite the pseudo-fantastical setting. Only part that fell a bit flat for me was the end fight scene, but that was in the original too. IMAX is 100% worth it for this one. 110

Connecting Link's Awakening unlocks something truly special. 152

Reposted by Prof. 9Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 27/07/2026Dark Auction (PS5) The characters & plot are good, but man is the setting poorly handled. It's jarring to see a story based around Hitler have so little to say about WW2's atrocities; at best, it feels cowardly. Use of gen AI taints the game's visual identity even if some of it was patched later. 111

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 26/07/2026This has been in the works for quite a while now because I wanted to fully integrate everything into the game's menus. It's been pretty fun learning the ins and outs of RE Engine (and not very fun having to use C++). It'll probably be a few more weeks before it'll be released. 070

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 25/07/2026Disclosure Day (Theater) With a plot that is vapid and often inane almost to the level of comedy, this film acts like it has something profound to say, but I came out of it an utterly unchanged man. 120

Not once did I feel challenged on navigational awareness because each level is a straight line. The GFX do be looking great though. 120 FPS is awesome. 121

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 27/06/2026Pulp Fiction (Theater) A number of slower--meandering, perhaps--opening acts, that come together beautifully in the final act. The out-of-order storytelling challenges you to pay close attention to what's happening. It's easy to see why this was such an instant classic. 100
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 26/06/2026I feel like when your soundtrack ends up being MORE expensive than the actual game, you've really goofed up your pricing. 0124
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 15/06/2026I never really checked, but Shooting Star - Misora Live Version and Shooting Star - Sonia Live Version do have some slight differences in the melody to accommodate the Japanese/English lyrics. Only in the Arranged versions, of course. Maybe these never were meant to get vocal versions after all? 0114
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 15/06/2026All my existing mods for Mega Man Star Force Legacy Collection work out of the box on this new update. I was hoping they'd fix MMSF3 field music not resuming, but I guess not. 090
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 13/06/2026Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (Theater) Never saw the originals and holy crap this was cinema. It's endlessly derivative and pastiche, but presented so candidly that you can't help but be absorbed. The film's utter reverence for its inspirations can be felt throughout and makes it all work. 110

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 08/06/2026Metroid Prime Federation Force (3DS) Completely fails to capture Metroid's essence but is pretty fun in its own right. One of the most overhated games ever. This game's main problems are releasing in 2016, and not inheriting Hunters' fantastic control scheme. Playing this actually hurts my hands. 130
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 07/06/2026The Lord of the Rings Trilogy: Extended Editions (BD) Watching this 25 years after the fact, it's exciting to see just how much of modern pop culture can be traced back directly to these films (and the OG books). Fellowship is the best one and an all-time classic. Older movies just hit different. 110

Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 24/05/2026The Mandalorian and Grogu (IMAX) The novelty of Mandalorian S1 having long worn off, this film makes it painfully clear how much of a non-character Mando is. Like most modern SW media, it's just more of the same, but deep down, there's some small joy to be found in that; like eating comfort food. 100
Prof. 9 @prof9.com · 21/05/2026Pragmata (PS5) Nothing beats a good, old-fashioned, short, linear, level-based, companion character action adventure. Story is pretty unremarkable, but the gameplay is so good. Hacking feels fun even if combat favors gunplay maybe just a bit too much. And wow, what a visual spectacle this game is. 110
