ZDM is in the best hands. Sinan Petrus Toma, you are not only exceptional at what you do, you are also a remarkable friend. Thank you, truly.

A special thank you to Erik Peterson, Tirthankar Lahiri, Markus Michalewicz and Francisco Abedrabbo for your mentorship, guidance, and for believing in me at the right moments. I would not be the PM I am today without each of you

For now, I’m taking some time to pause, recharge, and reflect. I’m stepping into the next chapter with gratitude, curiosity, and an open mind.

To everyone who collaborated with me, challenged me, trusted me, and helped shape this journey: colleagues from ZDM, RAC, ACFS, FPP and TimesTen, partners, and customers, thank you. Genuinely.

This infographic is my visual reflection of ZDM’s evolution during my tenure. It is not just a product timeline, but a reminder of the people, decisions, customer conversations, and cross-functional work behind every milestone.

As a PM, it was a privilege to contribute to a product that helped customers around the world migrate some of their most critical databases. From the very first release, watching ZDM grow from an idea into something enterprises genuinely relied on is something I will always be proud of.

One of the most meaningful parts of that journey was being part of the team that took Oracle Zero Downtime Migration (ZDM) from its earliest days to where it stands today.

I was recruited straight out of grad school when Oracle visited my university. Beyond any grand plan, what truly carried me forward was curiosity, hard work, and a willingness to bet on myself.

As I officially close this chapter, I’ve been reflecting not only on where the journey began, but also on the work, people, and products that made it meaningful.

Fifteen years ago, I joined Oracle not fully knowing how much it would shape my career, my perspective, and the person I became along the way.

Ricardo Gonzalez @productmanager.bsky.social · 19/06/2025
I will add another etiquette must, that folks always forget: Should you stand up for any reason, hold on YOUR OWN seat. Normally folks hold on the seat next to them when standing up and it wakes you up, pulls your hair or just rocks your seat 😿

speaking of @monktoberfest.com content, we've got a ton of incredible proposals as usual, but we're still looking for better diversity amongst our speakers. if you're from a group under-represented in tech, and have thought about talking, do apply within. docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...

would defend it, but conversely tropical folks and others who grew in places were 85 is nice (which would be too hot elsewhere) are just confused with the system. I think we are all biased, but it’s impossible to live or get the perceptions of others haven’t lived their experiences /2

Heterogenous DB migrations are always rather cumbersome, further if there is an endianness difference. I’d imagine there are also specific items to address given the target being a managed service
