iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

had originally intended go with the same style as my watercolour paintings, but changed my mind just before doing the inks. Didn't anticipate how opaque the gouache actually is, so covered up my initial sketch way too quickly so it was all a mad panic from there this was the test for the inking

B&W ink lining of the same pose and scene as in the painting

I tried to do the back soldiers without putting in too much effort, and they come out looking pretty fucked up. All the gaussian blur in the world couldn't save them

a close up of the very square faced left soldier with eyes too far up his very long head

a closeup of the right solider, who despite being very blurred out clearly has his eyes closed and way too close together, as well as having a squidward nose

Surprised I never posted this one from last June - a study of a screencap from Buffy

Did these to try and remember what to do to make something even vaguely okay with eternal thanks to @nullentitystock.bsky.social for always having spectacular references, including the ones I used for these

Every time I come back to doing art after taking any time away I completely forget everything about how to draw. So i'm learning again and hopefully stay well enough to make some learning progress

My computer can barely handle rendering in cycles mode, I have to have all the settings tuned way down or it'll crash everything. But it looks so so good, even just the way the parachute cloth actually looks sheer is so cool.

Still render of the same snail, gliding down with a parachute. The saturation of the enviroment is lower and the background uses a different part of the skybox than in the animation

Decided to try and properly learn blender rather than dipping my toe in and running away screaming for the umpteenth time - went with one of the snails from the Life Series Minecraft SMP, and I'm really happy with how it turned out!

B&W from when I'd just done the lining and the original painting. I hate trying to to turn photos into something digital, I desperately need a scanner if I'm gonna keep doing it

Have been reading You Weren't Meant to be Human by @ajwhiteauthor.bsky.social and it might have wormed it's way into my brain

digitised watercolour and pen painting of an arm cud down the middle, being held open by some kind of surgical metal device. writhing worms are inside the flesh, and there are a smattering of beetles moths and maggots around

Messy illustration to get my head back into things after having to take a break for a couple months I'm enjoying how much more my messy art looks like the things I actually intend now, despite actually looking further from the reference? who knew not aiming to copy things 1-1 was good, actually

Hi, thank you for doing this! I'm Rowan and i post an eclectic mix of art styles in random bursts

Traditional pen and ink drawing of a woman reaching up, digitally coloured

Digital illustration of a dancing tiefling

Pixel art of a man holding a shovel and looking down

Digital body horror drawing of a man looking up and screaming. The skin of his torso is being stretched open between his hands and the inside is connected in eyes. Behind him in the silhouette of his hair is the word "unwitness"

Kenzi (left) is reaching her final days and will go to the vet for the last time saturday. When the painting first started to really look like her I almost cried. Never thought I'd cry over making my art look right

Somehow cut off the first bit of the timelapse and didn't notice, that's what i get for compulsively trying to finish it at 1am. actual full one now

Rowan @problematicgod.bsky.social · 24/11/2025

Attempted to edit the timelapse of this and god do I miss windows movie maker, i just want some simple software that can do cuts and change clip speed but i ended up trying three different programs, and when I finally found one that was usable it only did 16:9 export, so I had to chuck it in blender

20s loop to avoid the pause at the loop, very annoying that bsky turns uploaded gifs to videos - it completely wrecks the looping effect

Having done a little bit of animation for stocktober i've now got the itch to do more, wow who could have possibly known that multiplying the amount of images you have to draw would mean multiplying the amount of time spent drawing them

@nullentitystock.bsky.social's #Stocktober2025 31 - Cosmic Horror All 31 complete! Genuinely surprised that I managed to do them all, thrilled that I did!

wait no i've now realised why the legs looked wrong, fixed it (mostly)

the same as the image in above but the lower half of the image has been stretched so the legs are now actually proportionate to the rest of the body

#Stocktober2025 26 - Massacre By brain was not cooperating in the slightest today so you get whatever this is!

Finally bothered to make a timelapse of something - The initial sketch was just doodling in a different file and messing about with perspective

Rowan @problematicgod.bsky.social · 26/10/2025

#Stocktober2025 22 - Watcher I don't really like this one but i don't think i can fix it without starting again so fuck it. Learned plenty about the software though so still taking that win

Rowan @problematicgod.bsky.social · 25/10/2025

#Stocktober2025 20 - Brooding I've done very little animation before and pixel art is still definitely it's own beast but i'm actually pretty happy with this. the anatomy of the moving chest makes little sense but it's readable and that's always my benchmark for technically succeeding

@nullentitystock.bsky.social's #Stocktober2025 10 - Victorious I may have somehow not drawn a duck before so glad to draw my first with such malice in it's eyes

digital illustration of a duck standing on a pile of bones in front of a gravestone. The art primarily uses flat colour with harsh black shadows and sparse white highlights.

#Stocktober2025 8 - Dragging Brain has not been happy with me so just lineart this time, needed an easy win. Also, having half of these flagged as adult content is so absurd, idk who on the moderation team found sawing off a corpse's head "sexually suggestive"
