For a moment, nothing. Then a visceral shriek tore itself from Deanna’s throat. Gone! Everything she was gone! Someone she loved as much as she loved herself, snuffed out in an instant! Love had looked love in the face and murdered it - why? Why?

The question was unanswerable yet her brain choked around it, trying to understand. Why? Why? Why? Why?

Help us!

“Deanna?” Riker asked, turning from Tuvok who had begun to tear up, his teeth grit so tightly he could see the Vulcan’s jaw working - as if physical force could dam the water.

“So many…Why?…How could they let this happen?” Deanna asked, distraught.

A cold feeling settled in Vale’s stomach when she realized the counselor was speaking as a direct conduit for the Jellies’ emotions.

Deanna staggered backward, confused. When had she stood? She was so close to the viewscreen. When had-?

Another wave of emotion fought to drown her out. She was being tossed about beneath waves of them but she was still able to hold on. She forced herself to, fighting with everything she had - both to keep herself from vanishing beneath the force of their feelings and to translate, to advocate, to not block herself off from the pain their interference had caused. She was safe. She could overcome this.

“They told us they could help…yet they brought them here…betrayal! Betrayal! Betrayal!” Deanna screamed, anger sharpening the word further with each repetition.

Will stood and the look she gave him was so fierce it stunned him momentarily. She looked almost possessed and she was in a way, by the Jellies’ grief.

Behind him, Tuvok lost whatever battle he was fighting and began to cry. The act itself was deemed un-Vulcan by the species but Riker had seen Vulcans cry. A stoic tear, a silent covering of the face, a shaky exhale followed by a systematic shutting down of all emotion - never anything like this.

Tuvok was…sobbing, head in his hands, loud and inconsolable even as the skin on his ears grew dark with embarrassment.

I need to do more with Tuvok/Vorik as a loveless pon farr induced marriage where neither likes the other and only Vorik is trying to make it work while Tuvok is thinking about T'Pel the entire time...I love a relationship that's doomed from the start and never improves.

Vorik asks "Don't you think it would be more logical to forget her?" while glancing at Tuvok.

Tuvok responds "It is logical to remain loyal to one's spouse" focusing on an offscreen PADD.

Vorik turns his head and places his arm in Tuvok's way, stopping him. "Then shouldn't you be loyal to ME?" he asks.

Tuvok appears irritated, glaring forward. He then turns to look at Vorik for the first time.

"Children should refrain from commenting on adult matters," he says, using the dialect of an elder to further distance the two of them.

More T'Pring. Old novels try so hard to make me think she's evil but instead I'm asking myself what would make a(n especially Vulcan) child noticeably 'cold' or 'manipulative' and the answers I'm coming up with are quite sad.

Excerpt from the novel 'Sarek' by A.C Crispin wherein Amanda says "I don't like her. That child is...I don't know. She's too polite, too...calculating. There's something...cold...about her."

A small comic is depicted below it showing T'Pring, a six year old, being given a ball by Amanda. She does not emote except to look at the ball and then at Amanda. The following exchange takes place.

"Do you like the ball, T'Pring~?"

"Yes. Thank you ma'am. It is very kind of you."

I wrote a fic awhile ago where T'Pring mentioned her parents not allowing her to have sweets as a child so here's some happy[ish] T'Pring art! She can eat whatever she wants as an adult!

Adult T'Pring eats a slice of cake while looking at a child version of herself. The child stares at the cake with a pained, nervous expression.

Imagine your ex fiancée having a romantic dream about you where you're a puppet that loves and is explicitly "useful" to him after hallucinating you as a repentant harpy sent to torture him on a ghost ship. The relationship ended because of him by the way. Why is Spock like this?
