certainly an interesting game if nothing else. i have some minor gripes with the presentation and mechanics but ultimately the game does set out what it intends to do quite well. it wasn't immediately obvious what the game was going for but i think it is Worth A Shot if it sounds like your thing.

when a good pokemon hack hits it REALLY hits. the second i found out about this i watched it like a hawk until it came out in full and it was so worth it. the etrian inspiration is amazing on every level from the designs to the mechanics and REALLY reminds me i need to play more of those games.

almost definitely the last of these i'll be playing for now but it's a REALLY good note to end on. kirby translates wonderfully to 3D while introducing a lot of really good new ideas on top of it. mouthful modes are a very good gimmick, and evolved copy abilities make up for the small roster a LOT.

well that's very easily the best one of these by a lot. complete perfection of everything good about the previous two games with a ton of new stuff. the mech adds a ton to the gameplay, a bunch of great level designs in both aesthetic and function, susie is great, it's all just amazing.

more kirby is of course ontologically good, this feels like return to dream land 2 in many ways and i generally like it as much as that game as a result. the specific nuances are there but they're not major, like the setpiecey sections in RTDL are better in this game for instance.

i had forgotten how good kirby games are. i'd have to replay super star to confirm which of these i like more but this compares QUITE favorably. there's just so much to like. the basics of a kirby game are so simple but so effective. i will be doing the deluxe bonus content as well

nothing hits like a good pokemon game. probably top 3 games in the series. i'm so happy to see megas back, to see kalos given a real game, and to see an experiment pan out as well as it did. it's not perfect, pokemon's core turn based approach is still a bit better, but they did REAL good here.

an absolute banger, the first digimon game with money delivers in every aspect. it iterates on basically everything good about cyber sleuth and adds tons of new stuff to boot. some mechanics aren't FULLY fleshed out but this is a really small thing compared to all the good stuff it has going on.

one of the hardest scores i've ever had to give because the story is amazing and on paper the mechanics are mostly excellent but there is just Such an expectation that you need to not only grind but grind correctly in order to keep up with the game's expectations. even on the new easy mode.

i REALLY wish i could rate this higher. even this high feels like a concession. but the game has amazing presentation, story, and a lot of great ideas. sadly, the execution lets the gameplay down HARD and makes it really hard to recommend despite how good it is.

whenever one piece gets real good like this week it makes me sad that basically the only good one piece game is PW4 [and 3 but mostly 4]. DBZ games are often fraught too because bandai namco doesn't know what to do with these anime IPs but there are significantly more good DBZ games than OP ones.

very glad i waited for this remaster. a great follow up to the original VN. all the new characters are really good and a lot of characters from the original get incredible moments. it's like 90% slice of life by volume but that was a lot of the best stuff in FSN too so it works really well.

this is a vita ass game. it's got a lot of charm and love for the series that shines through the mostly just okayish combat. making a pokemon-like FF is a great idea even if the execution is weird and it's fun to point at all the neat references to the FFs i love but it doesn't reach those heights.

while extella is "good for the first attempt at a musou from a team that isn't koei tecmo" link is actually good. it suffers a BIT due to not having as good writing but this is like genuinely the third best musou i've played, only lagging SLIGHTLY behind three hopes and PW4.

it's crazy how this game builds off of extra so well while also running laps around it in every way except the gameplay. the writing is INSANELY good and everything works so well but when i have to fight a boss it becomes 15 minutes of misery before getting back to the kino.
