I struggle with a coach following my every move, can't imagine in a group! I've started writing the steps down and drawing them. Seems to help a tiny bit. I still feel sooooo thick 😭

⛸️ Steps are so confusing 😭 wdym right forward inside 3 turn, left forward outside (inside? Go figure!) edge, right inside mohawk, right backward outside edge, left forward outside edge, forward crossover, and then... the same on the opposite foot... Just 🤯☠️

Thank you! Someone who knows where the current Italian and the regional dialects (in effect distinct languages) come from. Finalmente qualcuno 🥳

Being a figure skating fan sucks wdym you have to wait the whole year for your fav skater to skate maybe twice and then maybe 3 other times at the big comps and that’s it😭😭😭😭😭this is torture!!!!!

Such a pain! I had the same issue in Sheffield last year. Wear them around your waist like a summer pareo, held in place by a belt. Or knot them all together and use them as a long multicultural scarf 😉

And this is literally just the beginning. It's gonna only get worse from now on

I'm considering skipping all disciplines forever. What's the point anymore?

The return of the Russian skaters has ruined it for me. I don't have another season of listening to "but look, they're so superior" in me.

Yes, absolutely! And I've noticed I discover many covers of songs I love that are even better than the original

Deniss Vasiljevs as well. Then you have Amber and Matteo Rizzo not competing in the GP series. I've just caught up with FS in the past week or so maybe I'm just trying to digest too many news

Still, they're abbreviations universally used in books, so it's something one should know imo...

The ice rink has been insanely freezing this week. The statement "the cold never bothered me anyway" is not true anymore. Toodaloo to my toes ⛸️🥀🪦

In that sense I perceive Kamila's music choice and, frankly, horrid interpretation, as an act of disrespect rather than appreciation. My Italian guts are upset. Not approved 🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻

I used the expression "cultural appropriation" with intent: often Southern Italy regions are negatively depicted for being lazy, indulgent, edonistic, when they simply enjoy life as one should, without conforming to capitalist expectations. It's something to treasure, but sadly negatively connotaded

Priscilla Ice&Art @prionice.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Therefore it's drastically intimate; what the tradition means to people from Puglia eludes even people like me from the Dolomites. Then again, maybe I'm prejudiced against the Russians. Or just a bitter old hag who's less open-minded than she thinks. I don't know...

Kamila's & Benoit's "Mamma La Rondinella" ⛸️ SP feels a bit of cultural appropriation. Hold your pitchforks: it's always a tad cringe when skaters perform to folk music of a foreign country-Gubanova's bindi 😬? However, tarantella dance is not a *national* tradition, it is of 1 of Italy's 20 regions

PSA, errata corrige: Carolina Kostner IS Gioia's choreographer. I KNEW IT the moment I saw how Gioia was moving her arms and hands and hips to the music beat, the "miming" of the lyrics, down to the word. Tears of pure joy down my cheeks 🥲

Priscilla Ice&Art @prionice.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

Isn't it? I'm absolutely in love. By the way, Kamila's program is choreographed by Benoit. I expected something more from the two of them together 🤔

Priscilla Ice&Art @prionice.bsky.social · 20/09/2026

New obsession unlocked. I did some digging: the choreographer is Andrea Venturi, founder of Ghiaccio Spettacolo, a production company behind live ice shows, where Carolina Kostner is always the star. You're welcome

Whoever choreographed Gioia's program is a genius. The movements stay really true to the song's traditional roots. It's literally Tarantella dance on ice. Spectacular

What a coincidence, Valieva skated to the same music today. Opinions? I feel it's such a mediocre interpretation of South Italy folk music www.reddit.com/r/FigureSkat...

Gioia Fiori ⛸️🇮🇹 beautifully skated to "Mamma La Rondinella", making me think "this girl is so elegant and expressive and hits every note, she reminds me of Carolina." Then at the K&C, lo and behold 🤩
