my recliner became unplugged while it was reclining. I do not have the energy to pull it out and plug it back in. yet I must, because the energy it takes to get in and out of a reclined recliner is exhausting me by degrees. this is a first world problem but it is also an I am SICK problem :(

As a (very) diluted Hispanic who was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley there IS a conversation to be had about “Latinos for Trump”/Tejanos and the diaspora that is affected by it. But it’s an in-house conversation and it’s being had. Outside takes are not productive right now.

The library by my grandma is in a strip mall. You'd think nothing of it from the exterior. But the kids' section had SO many stuffed animals and fun things to play with. Then the nonfiction section in the back had these cozy leather chairs and a (fake) fireplace. I love that library.

My parents and grandparents definitely read to me! I saw my grandma reading often (she still does, at 88). My parents tended to read in their bedroom, but I knew they were reading a lot. And we participated in library events & volunteering all the time.

I don't tend toward accelerationism. But in this instance: sure, if the state is going to murder people, do it with a firing squad. Make them all open to the public again. Make us face the horror. Maybe we can change things this time.
