Ohio's only two openly transgender elected officials, Amy Heutmaker and Dion Manley, released a joint statement. We're sharing it to help amplify their message:
As the only two openly transgender elected officials in Ohio, we felt it was important to speak for ourselves.
We were deeply hurt by Dr. Acton's remarks, and we understand why so many transgender Ohioans and our allies were hurt as well. We believe accountability matters. We expect candidates who ask for our support to listen to our community, learn from their mistakes, and demonstrate through their words, policies, and leadership that transgender Ohioans belong here.
We also believe accountability and political engagement can coexist.
Our support for Dr. Acton does not require us to pretend her June remarks did not happen. And holding her accountable does not require us to disengage from an election with very real consequences for transgender Ohioans and our families.
We are supporting Dr. Acton while also asking more of her.

Statement from the National Stonewall Democrats on the Log Cabin Republicans Throwing Trans People Under the Bus
The Log Cabin Republicans have completed their MAGAfication and fully caved to Trump's wishes with an unprincipled and cowardly move that throws trans people under the bus to try to save their own skin. We have seen this before, and it ends the same way every time, because the Republicans who are targeting trans kids and writing this legislation have never drawn the line where Log Cabin is drawing it. Anti-trans legislation was the opening move, not the whole game, and the same coalition is already going after marriage equality, adoption rights, and nondiscrimination protections. Burying your head in the sand doesn't make you safe. It just means you don't see what's coming.
LGB is on the chopping block too. It always was.
We'll keep standing with our trans siblings, and not out of obligation or optics, but because they were standing with us long before anyone thought to ask. They were at Stonewall and in every fight that came after, usually absorbing the worst of it while the rest of us collected the progress. That history is the reason our organization exists, and it's why we'll keep fighting in statehouses, in courtrooms, and at the ballot box. History has a way of sorting this out. Stone walls are still standing centuries later. Log cabins rot from the inside.

Statement from the Delaware Democrats PRIDE Caucus on the
Supreme Court Ruling on Trans Kids in Sports
The PRIDE Caucus condemns the Supreme Court's rulings in West Virginia v. B.P.J. and Little v.
Hecox, which allow states to ban transgender children from playing sports with their peers.
Both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Medical Association affirm that
sports are critical to a child’s development, fostering teamwork, friendship, and community. Yet,
as Justice Sotomayor noted in her dissent, the Court's majority ignored scientific evidence. They
failed to acknowledge that trans girls on puberty blockers do not maintain athletic advantages,
basing their ruling on bias rather than research.
These bans, currently active in 25 states, harm more than just transgender athletes. They have
already led to targeted harassment of cisgender girls who do not fit rigid gender stereotypes.
The invasive medical and physical surveillance required to enforce these laws is far more
damaging to children than competing against a transgender classmate.
Delaware has successfully blocked statewide bans so far, but barriers remain. Interscholastic
sports are governed by the Delaware Interscholastic Athletic Association (DIAA), and the
complete lack of publicly recorded transgender student-athletes in our state highlights how
difficult the approval process already is. Because the DIAA relies on Title IX, this ruling leaves
our students vulnerable by stripping away federal protections.
Delaware prides itself on being a safe, affirming state for LGBTQ+ youth. To live up to that
promise, the PRIDE Caucus urges the Delaware legislature to take immediate action and pass
legislation that permanently protects transgender student-athletes.
