I can’t say this is a good/effective cover, but it’s an improvement over the cartoons and headless torsos, so…win?
The new Heated Rivalry hardcover, with gold text and subtle line art depicting hockey sticks, a puck, and kissing faces.

Another day on the internet in 2026.
Reddit user sludgezone says:
“It’s like everything that I like in the universe is being watched and studied in order to purposely fuck it up and ruin it for me.”

Of course my real camera is in a locked room, so this will have to do.
Bigass elk with bigass velvety antlers staring into the camera.

Seeing posts today about the dangers of elk, and then just now I spot this guy in the green space behind my house.
I’m not an expert or anything but this looks like a large elk with huge horns hanging around a heavily vegetated green space behind a short fence, staring at me. Not pictured: when he turned around and showed me his massive balls.

Fiiiine, I’ll just get it on Libro.fm. I’m too impatient.
Screenshot of my Libby app. I have both the audiobook and ebook on hold at the library, but the wait is 9-10 weeks.

Scored myself a signed Scalzi at DIA!

“The ploy here is obvious!”
Charlie Day Conspiracy Meme. Charlie Kelly from Always Sunny stands in front of a bulletin board on which there are overlapping pieces of paper pinned, connected by red lines. He has a crazed look in his eyes and is explaining his conspiracy to someone offscreen.

“Show me what comic you loved when you were 13, and that's all I need to know about you.” The 90s X-men cartoon was a gateway drug, man.
Wolverine #1, with our titular character making a totally not menacing come-hither gesture to the viewer.

Inspired by this thumb-up-the-ass dumbshittery.
A book called “The Dumbest Generation” by some dumbass named Mark Bauerlein.

A movie that takes place where you’re from.
Still from the movie One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.

I keep drafting skeets, trying to encapsulate my feelings on genocide, fascism, capitalism, TERFs, climate change, AI eroding everything—and I end up landing on this gif. Harsh? Maybe. But it speaks to my soul.

A screen capture from MST3k’s “The Final Sacrifice,” with added speech bubbles. Troy, a teenager in a red sweater, stands before his father’s grave and says, “Hi dad. It’s been a long time. I just wanna know what happened to you.” Mike retorts, “Well, I died.”

Oh, you do, do you?
Slate article headline: “I talked to the writer who got caught publishing ChatGPT-written slop. I get why he did it.”

WHY
A screenshot of an article. Below an image of people sitting inside an airplane, the headline reads: “What is ‘raw-dogging’ and why are people doing it on planes?”

TORONTO — Leave it to TikTok to come up with travel’s latest craze.

It’s called ‘raw-dogging,’ a new trend that’s blowing up on the social media platform, particularly among males, requiring people to sit through a long-haul flight with zero distractions or forms of entertainment. This means no phones, movies, music, books or even sleep, food and water.

I, too, aspire to live in a drafty room full of weirdly proportioned, disorganized books and clutch them in my mangled hands.
A young woman with monstrous white chompers grins maniacally as she’s buried beneath a mountain of poorly-rendered tomes. In one four-fingered hand, she holds what might be a ten-page chapbook. The other mangled hand rests on a “book” that has folded in on itself and is eating its own ass. Papers and books defy the laws of physics to fly about the room. In the foreground lies a diseased orange object that can only be the offspring of a bookmark and the legs of a crab. To no surprise, this image has been generated by “AI.”

Time to break out the pressure cooker.
A person parachutes over an ominous, orange-tinted landscape. The text reads: “A bowl of quinoa will surely get you the respect you so sorely crave.”

If I may interrupt: look at this handsome devil.

Borrowed the audiobook of The Saint of Bright Doors on Libby and was instantly hooked. By the hour mark, I was so enthralled that I had to buy a copy to reread with my own eyeballs. That almost never happens. Review to follow.
