To the credit of the nyt, although their AI takes are not always completely informed, they at least aren't catering too much to the antis on the daily / esra Klein, etc. like, at least some of them say this is serious and don't pay much lip service to the stupid arguments.

It makes me sad, and something I fought with for a long time but I had to cut them off. The fact that it's happening a lot, makes me wonder more about what the effects of this will be in 50 years. Though, it will be hard to tell with everything else going on.

I spend a huge amount of time on AI coverage and analysis, and have access to lots of resources It's hard for me to use a fraction of these resources (actually) well or really know what to do with it despite that Hard to imagine where the typical citizen is at, given everything.

A lot of people I follow are knee deep (or more) in the philosophical discussion and ecosystem that eventually produced good ideas about AI (and other things). It's impressive, but as a guy who has a day job I appreciate observing from here and occasionally getting the insight from drive-by takes
