COMPILATION CORNER Van today , I listen to Van a lot on Sundays . The 2CD “Still On Top” from 2007 was available in a 3CD variant for a short while and it’s a wondrous thing . The well known stuff is here of course but many deep cuts , album only gems etc . Check out that 3rd disc… Brilliant 💚🖤

COMPILATION CORNER It defies believe that this Best Of comp from the ever wondrous Dinosaur Jr came out ….25 YEARS AGO ! Crazy . You can still get it , and in fact it was reissued in 2018 with a bonus disc , with more early years highlights and a few from their comeback . Essential stuff ❤️🖤

John Coltrane , the Maestro , would have been 100 years old today. Sadly , he did not even make it half way, dying at the age of a mere 40 , tragic . Tonight I honour his memory in the way he would have wanted m by listening to , enjoying , immersing and being enthralled by his wondrous art . ❤️🖤

This weeks #TwilightTransmissions , a beatless journey through the wee small hours , at times very reminiscent of the “tears in rain” scene in Blade Runner . Courtesy of :

In 1994 Bark Psychosis released HEX ,their debut album , a masterpiece . Post-rock was the term used to describe it and it has similar qualities and moods to the later Talk Talk albums , very addictive stuff . Some say it’s the greatest album of the 90s …….

If you listen to Arab Strap , brilliant band , and as much as I love Aidan and his caustic , hilarious , poignant lyrics and singing …..if you can block it out and concentrate on JUST the music you will hear that Malcolm Middleton is the greatest Scots musician of the last 30 years .
