In case anybody would like an example as to why I don't currently regret having left Perú, even if I do miss my life there. The election authority's page literally doesn't let you see results for the current regional/local elections unless you're in Perú. What the actual fuck. What great democracy.
A screenshot of the Peruvian election authority's (ONPE) website, saying "Podrás acceder a los resultados únicamente desde Perú" ("You can only access the election results from within Peru.")

This idiot won an award for being baseball's best executive in 2023. This is a really good example of why unless your team actually wins the big one, the stupid ass narratives that drive everybody insisting the sports executive is an absolute superstar should be constantly and mercilessly mocked.
The Orioles were swept in the playoffs in 2023 and 2024.[9] Prior to the 2025 season, Elias was promoted to serve as the team's president of baseball operations. The Orioles returned to last place that season.

This is the first time I've charged to 100 in 5 weeks of owning the car (Hyundai manual says to charge to 100 once a month to calibrate systems). The system updates range estimates based on how you drive, and I'm lmao at this because the range estimate for mine is 290 miles.

This is mildly infuriating to me because there's an easy to stock and sell product (volume makes it cheaper, it's flat and doesn't take much space in inventory) that they just don't sell, resulting in me having to get it custom made with the exact same message.

Absolutely incredible stuff in the year of our Lord 2026 seeing people who get stuck in on this but somehow are ignorant of the fact that heating requires SIGNIFICANTLY more energy than cooling - and a lot of heating is literally accomplished by directly burning things!
Really stupid skeet: The entitlement that Americans feel to destroy the environment for their temporary comfort is deeply sad and will kill us all.

A lot of easter eggs in this part.
People occasionally just flip [me] off or whatever, but nobody's come up to me and tried to make a statement about anything. Personally, it's kind of dumb. It's just a vehicle. So it's ironic that it would even become a political statement, but nonetheless it is. They literally closed up shop on Tuesday without a president. No interim president, no constitutional transition figurehead, nothing. Just literally no President in a country of 30 million people. To be fair, it's an improvement over the guy who just spent 5 months doing nothing but paying for sex.

Following on my parenthetical above: If you zoom in on a map to this particular town, you can see a connection there pretty directly!
A map of the part of Wilkeson, Washington, USA, south of where it is bisected by Wilkeson Creek. The creek runs in a reflected S shape, such that it more or less forms the northern and southern borders of the town, while passing through the middle of downtown and limiting the northeast and southwest parts of town.

Scanning street names, Church St. is what normally would be called Main St. in the USA, and out of it runs Railroad Ave to the east, where it reaches a marker called "Wilkeson Historic Coke Ovens."

It's genuinely bothersome to see so many people follow accounts that are supposed to be experts in stuff like finance, but post shit so far disconnected from reality that it should immediately render their opinions irrelevant on anything else.
Post from quantian dot bsky dot social: I think it's reasonable to expect people using a technology to develop at least a basic understanding of how and why they work, especially in order to understand how they don't work, though naturally the people marketing them think this is unnecessary.

This is quite honestly the best mixing rum I've ever had (yeah you could mix like a Zacapa XO and it'd probably be better, but at $100 a bottle that's not a mixing rum). Really wish it were available where I live, but my wife is probably very happy with it not being easily available in daily life.

"Folks should just block me" is the most useful thing he has ever communicated in his life. And he's now reached a hall-of-fame-level of being blocked. Just unheard of stuff here, like the Serena/LeBron/Brady of being blocked. His 24 hour total alone ranks 4th all time for blocks!

adopted Rosy, who is epileptic and had been in the shelter for almost a year. The previous dog was also epileptic and we figured nobody would adopt her otherwise, plus she's adorable, so that's why we chose her. We imported her with us when we moved up from Peru to the USA in March.

Here's a fun meme on Perú Twitter (they haven't moved over... I check on my locked almost no followers account when stuff goes down).
I'm not really a Pokemon guy so I don't know the context of the original in the meme, but it's like 4 squirtles on the left, all with matching coats on, like they're a gang, and they appear to be very happily greeting a squirtle on the right looking towards them. The 4 are labeled Videla (representing the right wing Argentine dictator), Pinochet (right wing Chilean dictator), Abimael (Peruvian communist terrorist leader), and Alan (García, an unbelievably corrupt nominally-left-but-turned-right former Peruvian president whose party is specifically tied to drug trafficking), and the apparently-arriving squirtle is labeled Fujimori (Peruvian right wing dictator from 90s whose daughter is the main right wing political leader in Perú today).

Dog's bed was set outside to air out. It has ended up lying flat, and plans have changed.
A white dog with black spots sleeps on a gray bed in between sun beams and shade. The bed is sitting on a concrete porch on front of a pathway to a white picket fence. In the background there are some streets intersecting, a large older house, and many green trees. It appears to be sunny outside.

Photos I just stumbled upon from last day in Perú. Look at how gorgeous Pía is! Mario and Tito aren't so bad either. These cats were literally found as like two week old kittens in garbage by my mother in law. She originally wanted to adopt them out, but now I don't think she would give them up.
An absolutely gorgeous calico cat sitting in a cardboard scratcher in the form of a shopping cart from a fictional store called Tabby's Market (which also has drawings of cans of salmon, sardines, and tuna on it). The man is crouched down with his nose about two centimeters from the cat's, and he is wearing a gray, yellow, and blue striped tank top.A calico cat sniffing at a shopping cart-shaped cardboard scratcher, inside which a fairly rotund ginger cat sits, looking upward above the camera.Unbelievably gorgeous calico cat Pía, laid out glamorously on a wood-patterned laminate floor.White and gray cat Tito gets very close to the camera.
