While all the talk has been about 2027 being odds on to be the globes hottest year on record (as post-El Nino years see a global boost in warmth), 2026 has quietly slipped into a "more likely than not (ie >50%)" chance of becoming the globes hottest year. dashboard.theclimatebrink.com#global

NASA GISTEMP/IRI are debuting a new web page for predictions for the annual mean temperature level and what we can expect next year. data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/gmsta/
GISTEMP history from 1980 with estimates for 2026 from two statistical models and the NMME initialized ensemble. Also an estimate for 2027 based on projected ENSO.

🌊🌡📈 Global Sea Surface Temperatures are being shattered yet again. This is probably unprecedented for 100s of thousands of years, based on paleoclimatology.

My latest video, showing monthly global surface temperature anomalies from January, 1880 through June, 2026. The anomaly is with respect to the 1951-1980 baseline, which on average is about 0.32°C above the 1850-1900 IPCC baseline. Data: data.giss.nasa.gov/gistemp/data...

Spiralling global temperatures (1850-2026) It is exactly 10 years since I first put this animated graphic of changes in global temperature online. #ClimateSpiral It instantly went viral. People watched it over and over again. It still offers the power to shock a decade on.

March 2026 Globally,according to Copernicus,had a temperature anomaly of +0.53C above the 1991/2020 norm (+1.48C vs. pre-industrial) and was the 4th warmest March on record behind 2024 (+0.73C),2025 (+0.65C) and 2016 (+0.63C).

Adjustments for Global Warming graphs Adjust y-axis to get the Temperature Anomaly relative to Pre-Industrial (1850-1900) Table gives a quick adjustment, tailored to different Global Warming Datasets. This table works for annual anomaly data. Individual month anomalies need further adjustments.
A table with data related to Global Warming.

Sometimes you get a graph which gives "Global Temperature Anomaly", relative to 1991-2020" (or some other baseline).

For the Paris Agreement, you need to adjust the value, to get the temperature anomaly relative to pre-industrial (1850-1900).

This table gives you the "temperature anomaly adjustments" for datasets from: Copernicus, Berkeley Earth, HadCRUT, NASS GISS and NOAA. The adjustments from different baseline periods E.g. 1991-2020 ... to get from those adjustments to 1850-1900 baseline.

There are more accurate tables available at https://parisagreementtemperatureindex.com/global-warming-baseline-adjustments/ ...

Sometimes you need even more accurate tables, E.g. if you need to adjust individual months (baseline 1991-2020) to individual months (baseline pre-industrial). This is because the seasons have actually shifted.

Quick'n'Dirty Adjustments for Global Warming graphs How to adjust y-axis to get the Temperature Anomaly relative to Pre-Industrial (1850-1900) E.g. If the graph uses a 1991-2020 baseline, then add 0.9°C to get the Temperature Anomaly relative to Pre-Industrial More accurate tables are available

This table is "Quick and Dirty", because the values are rough, and don't take into account which dataset is used (copernicus ERA5, Berkeley Earth, GISS, NOAA, HadCrut).

There are more accurate tables available at https://parisagreementtemperatureindex.com/global-warming-baseline-adjustments/ ... which take into account the dataset.
