Never a bad time to learn AI and related work. It is rapidly evolving and as we move forward the opportunities will only grow! I do have certain opinions around the AI bubble which will normalise a few things once it bursts, but that would only stabilise things for the better

It’s not a “better” model, just an alternative for 90% use cases at almost 1/10th of the cost. Maybe for extremely complex use cases you will still use Claude, but you won’t come across them in most of your tasks.

Too expensive for most workflows, specially starting this month. Not worth the money. I just upgraded to $50 plan on Minimax. For Claude even if I take the $100 plan, I’d keep running out of 5h session tokens in an hour or two. Better to use Claude on pay as you go for very specific usecase.

But I have made peace that Claude would never work for me, I am too hands on into engineering things myself that I can prolly replicate such workflows at a lower cost myself. Claude model costs are getting out of hand. I’d get much more usage if I upgrade to $50 minimax plan

Sort of marketplace for a client. It does have complex logics. I figured 2.7 would prolly be more efficient for shorter tasks. The reason it’s burning is the long context it needs to build the current feature and because of my strict rules for testing & eng. practices, it burns a lot on those too.

Following the update on 1st June and introduction of #MiniMax M3- here's what changed for me: 1. hit my $20 (upgraded) session limit within 1.5 hours (same workflow) 2. Waiting since 3 hours for the limit to reset so that I can continue :) which AI should I subscribe to? #buildinpublic #tech #ai

I am using a Hermes Agent powered by Minimax Coding Plan ($10). Nothing specific for hype generation, you can add a few lines in SOUL.md file for the agent.

No, it works directly. I didn’t feel the need to use another tool. I have created some rulesets on top of the compound engineering plugin which helps me drive the workflow.

~10 yrs ago when I started learning how to code, I never thought I'd be practically yelling at an AI agent because it forgot to create an endpoint in the backend which it integrated to the frontend already :) #buildinpublic #tech #ai #hermes

Since the last 3 hours I have had 3 Hermes Agents working on different complex tasks (Marketing & Content Research, Code) and my Minimax $10 plan usage is still staying strong. The $20 Claude plan would have given up by now. :) #buildinpublic #tech #ai #hermes

Client's PWA initially had Email MagicLink login, however since they don't support deeplinks we were not able to redirect the user back to the installed web app efficiently. Switched to using Email OTPs instead for a better experience. Small change big impact #buildinpublic #tech #ux #saas

In less than 12 hours, I have managed to hit my Weekly Rate limit. :) Switching to MiniMax now.

A $3 item I had been procrastinating to purchase and today, almost immediately, it made a huge impact. I have two machines I use for work, 1 Win and 1 Mac, but with only 1 monitor, so it became a pain for me to switch the cables from one device to another. Not anymore :) #buildinpublic #tech

#buildinpublic Ending the work today on a high note, completed the onboarding and location filtering feature along with setting up DEV server for showing a live demo to the client. (He was happy)

Can't believe I used so much of my weekly limit on Day 4 itself. Will be shifting to using MiniMax for comparison for a week or two! This was while building a simple location mapping feature for fetching data within a radius of the user's current location :) #tech #ai #buildinpublic

I’m often amazed how differently enterprises treat AI and AI driven development than other companies. A year ago I felt the company I was working at was too slow, today I feel they are at a much mature place than most. They moved slow, but built the right and secure systems around AI. #tech #ai

key diff in coding w/ AI b/w new & old projects- for new projects you don't need to set a ton of context, it builds the context as you grow- but for old projects it takes a lot of time & effort to set the complete context before it starts producing correct or efficient code #buildinpublic #ai #tech

Today marks 3 months of using Every's Compound Engineering Plugin for my regular development work with Claude/Copilot - I can safely say, it has improved my workflow for good. Very efficient and thorough and avoids creating technical debt if you know what you are doing #buildinpublic #tech #claude

quick update on using Garage instead of MinIO: The migration was easy, I had setup a new bucket and access keys through CLI. Using the CLI is a breeze once you go through the docs (in some places it may feel a bit confusing). I don't notice any issues with latency for now #buildinpublic #tech #s3

Am I the only one who's pissed with the new pricing and usage model which copilot has adopted? In the base plan, I can no longer use Opus and I am being warned of hitting weekly usage constantly :) Thinking of trying out Minimax for a while, thoughts? #buildinpublic #tech #copilot #ai

For >7 years of my career I preferred direct Docker deployments, but since the last 6 months of using Coolify, I am amazed how easy it has made my server management. If you are managing multiple servers, databases, applications, Coolify could really give you back some time. #buildinpublic #tech

I spent 70% of the time in brainstorming, planning and reviewing the architecture and security with AI then handed off coding to AI. The remaining time I reviewed and tested thoroughly what it wrote. With minor changes, I was done in almost equal time, but with much less technical debt

unpopular opinion: AI is not reducing the time to deliver, at least not instantly. I just completed a feature, and I realised it almost matched (ok maybe 5% quicker) the estimate I would have given in pre-AI era. What changed is how I completed the feature (1/2)

Honestly still tinkering with it, although the first impressions - Very lightweight, MinIO takes a lot of juice from the server. Also the permissions, right now I have not tinkered a lot with it, but it doesn't seem so complicated for now. Will post an update after a couple of days of testing.

Was setting up a fresh instance of MinIO just now when I realised how much they took out of the CE. Needless to say, finally trying out (and probably shifting to) Garage. First hour review, seems very lightweight and reliable. #buildinpublic #tech #s3
