Top played games so far in 2026 (all in-person): 1. LotR Trick-Taking (Fellowship + Two Towers), 30 plays 2. Compile, 20 plays 3a. So Clover, 11 plays 3b. Hitster, 11 plays 5a. Rosetta, 9 plays 5b. Jibber Jabble, 9 plays I've got 27 titles I've played at least 5 times; I had 29 through all of 2025.

Is there a game like this? One person writes a word/sentence on a strip of paper. Another person tears it in two. The writer chooses either torn section to hand to a guesser/team, who tries to identify the original text.

What I played in August! Tons of new-to-me thanks to GenCon. The highlights of the new stuff were Rosetta, Orapa Mine, Jibber Jabble, Wee Folk, and Spell, as someone who likes language, deduction, party games, slightly antagonistic pattern creation, and heavily antagonistic pattern creation.

My wife led a D&D session for the kids and their friend yesterday. I was around doing other stuff but she asked me to play the role of a hag near the end, I said sure. I was to scare them away, I was obviously too strong for them, but they can grab some items from her house and run away.

Got my SuperiorPOD order in for the proof copy of Worms Upon A Time. Hoping that I got my file formats etc right, because the process is quite different to TGC! But if all goes well I’ll have this in my hands before the end of September and can get the big order done to get here by end of October!

I'm often shocked by how many people answer LearnedLeague questions correctly. Yesterday, 22% of people answered NIBELUNGEN when asked about Germanic dwarflike beings referenced in a Wagner work. That seems absurdly high!

My weird work league is drafting in a couple days. It’s weird because it only lasts 9 weeks. Winner gets a free PTO day so I’m drafting exclusively players with a bye week of 10 or later.

I've been logging my board game plays since mid 2008. Of the 19 calendar years I've covered, there are 5 titles I've played each year, and another 6 more I've only skipped one year. I've got to get back to playing more Metropolys!

19 years covered by Dominion, Neuroshima Hex, Metropolys, Scrabble and Galaxy Trucker. 18 years covered by Bali, Diamant, Agricola, On the Underground, Prophecy, and Bohnanza.

Spell is a great-looking duel of grid manipulation, and if you’re doing well it really pats you on the back and says you’re so good, well done! And if you make a misstep it places its boot on your head and tells you you’re scum.
