The latest Karabiner-Elements beta can now show configuration diffs for troubleshooting. This required managing setting names as labels, so I took the opportunity to add localization support as well. It took some work, but the app is now fully available in Japanese.

Karabiner-Elements 16.3.0 is out 🎉 It mainly fixes a bug in 16.2.0's update check cycle, plus the remaining delays in key remapping after waking from sleep. I finally managed to reproduce and fix those delays. Personally, I'm glad to have this resolved. karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/docs/release...

Takayama Fumihiko @pqrs.org · 22/03/2026

In the latest Karabiner-Elements beta, you can now use information about the focused UI element via the Accessibility API. Well-designed applications properly expose UI element information, so I hope more applications will support this correctly.

Now that JavaScript support in Karabiner-Elements has stabilized, I'm prioritizing JavaScript examples for expert configuration.

021

Takayama Fumihiko @pqrs.org · 04/02/2026

In the Karabiner-Elements beta, I made several fixes to the JavaScript support and have started migrating complex or special configurations to JavaScript rules. While this does assume some programming knowledge, being able to edit them easily from the settings UI is very convenient.

Takayama Fumihiko @pqrs.org · 03/02/2026

In the latest version of Karabiner-Elements (v15.9.5), you can now generate Complex Modifications JSON rules using JavaScript.

031

Takayama Fumihiko @pqrs.org · 01/02/2026

In the latest beta of Karabiner-Elements, you can now edit JSON using your preferred editor. This change is less about the current JSON itself and more about addressing the fact that the built-in editor is too limited for eventually defining configurations in JavaScript.
