The latest Karabiner-Elements beta can now show configuration diffs for troubleshooting. This required managing setting names as labels, so I took the opportunity to add localization support as well. It took some work, but the app is now fully available in Japanese.

I've redesigned the community-maintained rules website for Karabiner-Elements. It should now be easier to find the configurations. ke-complex-modifications.pqrs.org

I’ve added a filtering feature to the log viewer in the Karabiner-Elements beta. I should have added this much earlier.

I've published the release candidate for the next version to the beta channel. If nothing comes up, I plan to release it in a few days.

As a final touch for the Karabiner-Elements new release, I've added some improvements to the setup wizard. If testing goes well, I plan to proceed with the release.

In the latest Karabiner-Elements beta, you can now use information about the focused UI element via the Accessibility API. Well-designed applications properly expose UI element information, so I hope more applications will support this correctly.

In the latest Karabiner-Elements repository, I've updated EventViewer to display the name of the device that sent the event. It's one of those changes that makes you wonder why it wasn't done earlier.

In the latest macOS beta (macOS 26.4 Beta), I've confirmed an issue where Karabiner-Elements cannot modify events from the MacBook's built-in keyboard, and the keys are entered as-is. Please be aware.

Now that JavaScript support in Karabiner-Elements has stabilized, I'm prioritizing JavaScript examples for expert configuration.

In the Karabiner-Elements beta, I made several fixes to the JavaScript support and have started migrating complex or special configurations to JavaScript rules. While this does assume some programming knowledge, being able to edit them easily from the settings UI is very convenient.

In the latest version of Karabiner-Elements (v15.9.5), you can now generate Complex Modifications JSON rules using JavaScript.

In the latest beta of Karabiner-Elements, you can now edit JSON using your preferred editor. This change is less about the current JSON itself and more about addressing the fact that the built-in editor is too limited for eventually defining configurations in JavaScript.

TrueWidget 2.6.0 has been released. I've added an optional APFS volume unmount feature, which I've personally wanted for a long time. It's designed for test environments with multiple macOS versions installed. truewidget.pqrs.org/docs/release...

I'm implementing an urgent fix for Karabiner-Elements on macOS 26.1. (The work is mostly complete.)

There are plenty of features I want to implement, but without proper Liquid Glass support the UI breaks, so I've been focusing on full macOS 26 support.

It is a small thing, but in the beta I improved the UI overall: removed unnecessary padding, standardized inconsistent spacing, and increased the number of items visible at once.

I got a bunch of unexpected freebies with my switch spring order from RNDKBD, it almost feels too generous.

I've released Karabiner-Elements v15.5.0 with minor bug fixes and new warnings to help users avoid common issues. karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/docs/release... The highlight for me is a new menu bar option that lets you enable beta updates. Honestly, I wish I had added it much sooner!

The ComboStick is designed to support attachable keyboard holders, so whenever I switch keyboards, I also create a new holder to keep the keyboard fixed in exactly the same position.

Got a new keyboard, back to mechanical switches. I was using 20g optical switches before, so 35g feels a bit heavy. Still deciding whether to swap the springs.

The awake ratio I added to the TrueWidget beta turned out to be surprisingly interesting. I thought I kept my Mac running much longer, but it was only around 60%.

A throwback to the monitor days. The ComboStick wasn't in its optimized shape yet, brings back memories.

I've spent the past few days optimizing my setup for the Xreal One. The level of freedom it offers, especially in terms of posture, is incredible. I don't think I can go back to a regular monitor now.

I bought the Xreal One, so I'm going to experiment to see how well I can integrate it into my daily use. At the very least, its standalone 3DoF is fantastic.

The beta version of TrueWidget now supports displaying uptime. At first, I assumed that ProcessInfo.processInfo.systemUptime would be an easy way to retrieve uptime, but since it doesn't account for time spent in sleep, I had to fetch the boot time using sysctl and calculate it manually.

I updated the page with information about key codes to make it more understandable. The core process can only process HID Usages, so the key codes in the configuration are also based on it. However, these don't always correspond to the actual key letters. karabiner-elements.pqrs.org/docs/help/tr...

When I tried similar in the past, my hands often collided with the cover. Now, the devices are optimized, so I can keep my hands in the home position, so operate without any collisions 😄 (Switching the pointing device to ComboStick made a big improvement.)

My cats jumped onto the keyboard several times while I was working in the terminal, so I created a cat-proof barrier using an acrylic board to prevent any serious mishaps.

With test environments spanning various macOS versions on both Apple silicon and Intel, TrueWidget is an essential tool for visualizing environmental information. In these environments, Apple Account also differs as well, so I added a display feature in TrueWidget v2.1.0.

Previously, I attached fixtures directly to the desk to keep the ComboStick and keyboard in place. However, this setup was not portable. To solve this issue, I designed a keyboard holder that connects to the ComboStick, allowing me to stabilize its position. It's been working perfectly.

As I've mentioned repeatedly, one of the things I truly appreciate about macOS is how it requests approval or provides notifications for actions that apps could potentially misuse. I especially commend macOS for notifying users about screen capturing, even when it involves Apple's own apps.

I've updated the examples in the Karabiner-Elements reference manual to a unified format for easy copy-pasting into the built-in editor. Introduced over a year ago, the editor has been incredibly useful, simplifying testing of user's configurations and providing benefits in daily use.

I think it’d be incredible to turn favorite GitHub commits or PRs into posters, like the Let's Encrypt X1 Root Certificate poster. A perfect commit or PR we were thrilled to see merged would make great memories. It's fun to imagine which commit I would choose if such a service existed.
