For any of us who are south Asian we need to help all of our dialects get on to Bluesky. At @equalitylabs.bsky.social we are doing specialized trainings with Dalit bahujan orgs and leaders and that is working. If we all pitched in we could get even more online in the next three months.

Have no clue what fruit this is (or if it's even edible). It looks like a mutated pineapple. The plant it grows on is like a giant variant of a pineapple plant - this grows as large as a tree. It's very common on the Kerala coast.
Weird fruit - orange coloured, like a large, mutated pineapple, on beach sand. Leaves and debris around it. Smaller, dried up version of the fruit on the side under the leaves.

'On the edge you see all kinds of things.' This page from Shubnum Khan's 'How I Accidentally Became a Global Stock Photo and Other Strange and Wonderful Stories' has sat in my head for a while.

Should have mentioned that the first international Air India flight was in 1948 and in a couple of years you had other airlines flying to other cities too.

So I knew that Air India was the first Indian airline to go international when it flew Bombay - London (via Cairo and Geneva) but apparently within a short time of this first flight there were other private Indian airlines also flying international and connecting cities like Bangkok and Hongkong.

This becomes super nuance and definitely an artist's choice, and there's no one AR is better than another. A general rule would be, since currently all screens are 16:9/16:10 then a media taking over the whole screen is immersive. But a different ratio of say 4:3 is more tighter,

(serious question re Payal Kapadia's tweets on AWIAL's projection aspect ratio - total noob here) What factors influence a movie director's choice of aspect ratio? How is one aspect ratio better (or not) from another?

Just noticed that the metro stations use plastic footstools from the same brand - AAGAM! These are the black footstools on which passengers stand when the security guards swipe them with metal detectors. Same brand and same pattern design too.

wasn't aware Bangalore has 'branded' manhole covers. this one looks rather neat!

Unlike Hyderabad where I was born and Tellicherry where my family is from, I chose to come to Bangalore. And then chose to return to this place. Twice. Bangalore is mine. All mine.

Yesterday my Namma Yatri auto driver wiped the rear seat with a cloth as soon as he pulled up and before I could get in. I didn't ask him to do it - I have just got so used to autos with dust covered seats - but boy was I glad!

Photographed a drone overhead at a reception last night. There's a clearer picture but this is more dramatic.

Today I got asked directions at 2 different (non-interchange) stations on the metro - one was for a destination station, the other for an in-between station. High time BMRCL hired professionals to improve station signage. At the very least get final year student interns from design colleges fgs!

Granite tiles are good for high pedestrian traffic interiors (like museums) since they are low maintenance but slippery, polished granite tiles are really not the best idea for interiors in transit stations where people might hurry to catch a train or bus or whatever. BMRCL I'm looking at you.

So apparently the Nizam's govt set up an airline in the 1930s connecting Hyderabad to Delhi, Bangalore and Madras. And this airline - Deccan Airways - had India's first woman commercial pilot.

I'm sorry but that canopy wasn't elegant and canopy or not I'm sure ppl will prefer knowing which platform the train will come at. Can IR do something about the abysmal train info systems at the station and maybe don't use them for ads. Think about canopies etc after fixing the basics 🤦🏻

Bangalore's Sky Deck plan is a lot like Colombo's Lotus Tower - both vanity projects ostensibly to promote tourism. Except the Lotus Tower at 350 metres is a lot taller and its impact on tourism is debatable.

Re: Bangalore Darshinis I'm a fan of Park View, near the 'Mini Forest' park in JP Nagar. Standard Darshini fare. I usually have curd vada, gulab jamoon and coffee. But more than the food it's the location - with the view of the park in front - that's fabulous. Great for people watching!
