Yay I read that one a couple of weeks ago. I am also NOT a horror lover but T Kingfisher writes such delightful characters I couldn't help but enjoy myself. I'm looking forward to jumping into the next one... One day 😅😅

Couldn't agree more. I'm definitely enjoying it, even if I understand about only 5% of what's happening. Is there a release date for #4 in the series do we know?

It's been awhile since I read Harrow but I LOOOOOVED it so I do actually remember bits and pieces (rare for me). It has not helped at all 😅😅. Still I was prepared for complete confusion this time.

Currently Reading - 06/10/25 I've been AWOL lately - been focussing on my bookstagram. Anywhozzleby... 1. Promise of Blood - am enjoying quite a bit and 75% complete 2. Dragonflight - 30% through and hoping FMC has a decent arc. 3. Harvest of Hearts - too early to tell #FantasyFaction 🪐📚💙

A Harvest of Hearts is a book-club read. Graphic has a pastel floral background as its base to match the vibe of Harvest of Hearts cover. So per a previous post I DNF'd Legacy of Brightwash, BUT I did enjoy the other 2x. Shield of Sparrows was a Book-Club read and the first romance (though as a subplot) that I've enjoyed in a while. That's not my name was a slow-burn. The characters were a bit younger than I prefer currently (17yr)

My (@TheChaotic_TBR) graphic for book review of That's Not My Name by Megan Lally - 3.5 stars.

Dual POV | Slow Burn Mystery | Teen Characters
'A slower paced read, high focus on the characters. I managed to guess some but not all of the ending. Didn't keep me on the edge of my seat, momentum picked up at about 80%'

Political Intrigue | Slow Burn Romance | Monster Threat | Found Family Trope

'Perfect plot/romance ratio. The romance felt authentic. Loveable side characters, intriguing plotline, cool monsters & graphic combat scenes.'

I read this one towards the end of last year and rated in 3.5/5. I think I found the first part a bit slow moving or something but by 40% I was invested and quite enjoyed the last 1/3 of the book. I'd not heard of the Goose Girl fairy-tale before!

110

Jayna - TheChaotic_TBR 🎧📚 @powjay.bsky.social · 21/09/2025

Yeah maybe. Thus one has been hugely popular recently so I chose it as a book-club read and it was fine but I definitely didn't get the wow factor. I don't understand how I can love grimdark fantasy but not like dystopian. Maybe there's more action? Have you read this one?

Jayna - TheChaotic_TBR 🎧📚 @powjay.bsky.social · 21/09/2025

In branching out of my comfort genre - Fantasy I've made another new discovery. Dystopian is not for me. I'm also not sure if I'm smart enough for some of these thought-provoking reads. They get so much hype and I just don't seem to have my mind blown. Am I alone in this? #FantasyFaction 📚💙

My (TheChaotic_TBR) graphic for review of I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman - 3.5 stars.

Dystopian - Bleak
Character Focussed
Immersive Writing

'I can confirm that dystopian is not a preferred genre of mine. I have tried a few this year and struggled with each of them. The writing was immersive but bleak and honestly, it felt like nothing much happened. Maybe smart literature is not for me, I feel like I might have 'missed' the message of this book.'

I've read quite a variety of spice levels in the last few years and I'm currently in a phase of wanting low to no romance/spice content. I also go into my books blind because I don't like spoilers and blurbs give too much info IMO. So basically I AM THE PROBLEM. I bet it's a great book 😅
