In branching out of my comfort genre - Fantasy I've made another new discovery. Dystopian is not for me. I'm also not sure if I'm smart enough for some of these thought-provoking reads. They get so much hype and I just don't seem to have my mind blown. Am I alone in this? #FantasyFaction 📚💙

A person in a hooded cape is running from something. The cape looks of high quality.

Text reads 'A wildly original and complex fantasy - N.K Jemisin'

Water Moon by Samantha Sotto Yambao 🎧 - 4⭐ This was weird, wonderful, dark and beautiful. I can best describe it as an Eastern Through the Looking Glass. Imagery was top tier. Definitely recommend if you want something different. #FantasyFaction 🪐📚💙

🎧📚 The Whale's Last Song by Joanne Fedler - 4.25⭐ Beautiful prose, magical and eerie. Very fairytale-esc. Nettle and Bones by T Kingfisher vibes. A special story of love and sacrifice, trials and successes, dreams and memories. Aussie narrator too ❤️'d it! Highly recommend! 📚💙

#PrideMonth 🌈📚 Books #7 - A Prayer for the Crown-Shy by Becky Chambers - 3.75⭐ Enjoyed seeing Dex and Mosscap's friendship develop. Some interesting observations on being human and our place in the world. I would love to see a #3 in the series in the future. #FantasyFaction 🪐📚💙

Disclosure: I have had to DNF Chain-Gang All-Stars by Nana Kwame Adjei-Brenyah. It's an incredibly grim but powerful read. I've gotten to 54% and... I just can't anymore. It's well written, the characters are compelling. I'm just not in the right space for it. Apologies to the author. 🪐📚💙 🌈📚

#PrideMonth 🌈📚 Books #5&6 - Silver in the Wood and Drowned Country by Emily Tesh - 4.5⭐ Wow, I was not expecting to love these as much as I have. The imagery and world building, characters and love story were wonderful. I could 'see' it in my mind which is a rare thing for me. #FantasyFaction 🪐📚💙

#PrideMonth ‍🌈📚 Book #4 - A Psalm for the Wild-Built by Becky Chambers - 3.5⭐ This was a sweet read. I feel most, if not all, of us could relate to Dex's feelings dissatisfaction at least once in our lives I enjoyed the imagery of Panga. What a world ❤️ #FantasyFaction 🪐📚💙
