Absolutely gorgeous afternoon at the beach. My favorite days are when bright, glaringly sunny skies are replaced with dramatic storm clouds. Lots of brown pelicans diving for fish and a dolphin swam just a few yards out in front of me. Pure magic. #Florida #Nature #Birds
The profile of brown pelican gliding across the horizon between a cloudy blue-gray sky and the clear blue-green waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Celebrating 9 years of happy marriage with my soulmate @joeyomahoney. This photo was taken right after the ceremony—a small gathering of family members at a local arboretum. I have no memory of what we were taking about but it must’ve been funny and he’s been cracking me up every day since.
My husband and I walking hand-in-hand with our backs to the camera, down a wooden path surrounded by greenery. Joey is wearing a gray suit and has an arm around my waist. I’m in a simple sleeves, long white dress, with a floral headdress. He is gesturing with his other hand and you can see from my profile that I’m laughing.

There’s some exciting news attached to this little bowl! I can’t wait to share more. I’ll take some guesses if you want to try.

Wooden shelves with unfired pottery and a light seafoam green wall can be seen in the background. Outdoor dinner with my mom and husband on our wedding anniversary weekend. Another celebratory garden bouquet 💐 Mismatched #pottery, as always—two cups and vase by me, one cup by David MacDonald, candle by #EastFork, mom’s manufactured dishaware.

Green foliage surrounds the flowers, and a blurred background features lush greenery.A beautifully set outdoor table features three plates of pasta with chicken and roasted vegetables, accompanied by decorative napkins and mugs. Here’s how the 12lb planter turned out. (See upthread for before pic.) I’m excited to keep working this way. I think I want to make some larger planters for my next shop update.
A pottery wheel with a tall, unfinished clay cylinder on top. At this point, I had joined a second 6lb cylinder on top of the first and blended them together. I also used a carving tool to add rings to the top, center and bottom. Those rings create boundaries for the carved design I will add later. A measuring cup with remnants of clay sits nearby, alongside buckets of materials. The wheel is yellow and gray, with some clay splatter visible. The resulting red terracotta pot with a plant and a dark ceramic pot (the old planter) with a splashed of white glaze on the exterior are shown, surrounded by lush green leaves and some droplets of water.

Two different terra sigillata results from the same #WildClay sample. I’ve talked a lot about how terra sig is just refined clay slip—Clay and water blended, left to settle and then you collect the silky fine layer at the top to decorate with. Well, you can […] [Original post on mastodon.social]

Day 2: Camp True Colors clay workshop at ALSO Youth. We painted our pieces today and I explained the firing process and how the clay and colors will transform. A10 year old asked me “how to make yellow” and didn’t know about primary and secondary colors […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
Person wearing an absolutely fabulous “Labyrinth” shirt featuring an image of David Bowie as Jareth, holding a small plate that they’re decorating. It has a pink rim and two pink stars surrounded in gray and white checkerboard pattern. The colors will change to red, black and white after firing. A colorful painting (I believe acrylic) on canvas depicting two women sitting underneath a tree, one resting with her hands clasped in her lap, the other busy processing cassava. There is a small wood structure behind them. The background features a vibrant and tropical natural setting with trees and other figures in the distance, engaged in various activities. The overall style is expressive and lively. The painting is about 24” long and 16” wide. I wanted a larger one, but this is the one I could afford.

Rain Vase. It’s been eerily dry. It hasn’t rained heavily in almost a month. Usually, this is my favorite time of year. I love standing on the beach under a dramatic, overcast sky watching lightning and off-shore rain storms. I love walking out into the […] [Original post on mastodon.social]
I’m standing off-frame holding a large, voluminous vase in my hand in front of the camera. The vase is painted in black and aqua tones with fine dark red bands dividing the pot into five sections. The simple geometric patterns are an abstraction of dark rain clouds, rain and the dark sea below. The neck flares out at the top and the interior is glazed a glossy aqua. I’m standing outside in my yard which is incredibly verdant considering how dry it’s been.

Day 1: Camp True Colors clay workshop at ALSO Youth. We’re going to paint them with colorful underglazes tomorrow and then I’ll bring them back to my studio for firing. These kids are always super fun. 🌈 #HappyPride #LGBTQ #ISeeYourTrueColors
A portion of a child’s profile can be seen in the top right corner of the photo and their hands are just below, using a tool to shape clay. Several small freshly made freshly-made figures including a bunny head, sit on the table in front of the child. The tables covering makes up the background of the photo: a glittery rainbow. Two hands shape a small clay dish with two stars attached to the surface. The hands have short nails painted red and a stick & poke tattoo. Rainbow glitter table covering in the background.

Another of my favorites from the last kiln load. I’m sending it to a gallery for a show in July. The theme is geometric patterning! #pottery
A wheel thrown water pitcher that would also make a lovely flower vase. The surface is carved with diamond geometric pattern, intricate line work and small raised dots. The pitcher is glazed matte-off white with light aqua glaze coloring in the diamond shapes. The red stoneware clay peaks through the glaze in various areas creating a somewhat aged look.
