Today I made a reference to 90's No Fear/No Rules folders and received my first ever "WTF are you talking about old man" awkward silence. This is great. Milestones are great.
90's "extreme" artwork of crazy stylized cartoon animals causing chaos as young people play various sports sports with exaggerated foreshortening perspective. EXTREME!

In case anyone was wondering, the book the new Supergirl movie is loosely based on is fucking fantastic.
Cover art from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow #7 (2021)

I’m sorry LEGO. I understand what you’re trying to do, but these ads of a man in his early-to-mid-thirties enjoying his unskilled children’s toy hobby are giving some of the loneliest Special Lonely Boy vibes of all time. Not feeling less ashamed here. Not destigmatized by this.

I mean, what the fuck do you mean you won’t tell us who joined him? Why not? Because it’s disgusting? Because it’s a huge indictment of their character that they would ever accept such a heinous invitation?
Via the New York Times article: Officials from the Navy and the Defense Department said V.I.P. “tours” near the Arizona were common, but they declined to say how often they take people snorkeling. A Navy spokeswoman declined to identify the nine people who joined Mr. Patel on the trip. The F.B.I. said that Adm. Samuel J. Paparo Jr., the head of the United States Indo-Pacific Command, invited Mr. Patel to Pearl Harbor.

Hey if you're going to conduct "targeted operations" in a place that gets weather, maybe learn to drive first.
Meme of Vizzini from Princess Bride mocking ICE agents as they struggle to drive on icy, snowy midwestern roads: "You fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous of which is, "Never get involved in a land war in Minnesota."

Researching wildcats for a school mascot thing and I know he's feeling grumpy but I think a snuggle would fix it.
pic of a Scottish wildcat with a furrowed brow. It looks just like a big cuddly grumpy kitty but don't snuggle wild animals even if they absolutely are asking for it.

The older he gets, the more obvious it becomes that John Fetterman is the product of a whirlwind romance between a Klingon and Ra's Al Ghul

lol oh so it's not really about making it hotter at all
excerpt from linked article: U.S. Border Patrol Chief Mike Banks, who attended the event with Noem, said the paint would also help deter rust.

I hate hate *HATE* how obvious it is that they are off-the-shelf, tape-on Temu garbage. "Oh just rotate it 90 degrees, no one will notice." Cheap bullshit.

I get the need to update the vintage HDD icon, but overall this flattening and reduction in depth/contrast looks cheap to me. Looks like Linux. If Apple fully cedes the aesthetic high ground, they lose the whole game IMO

Here’s a pic of my 2.5yr old in a downtown St. Paul park last month. Yeah super scary.
Smiling toddler mimics the wall-sitting pose of two bronze statues of Peanuts characters. No one is around. It’s a clean, peaceful park.

People always talk about going back in time to kill hitler as a baby, but you could probably just kill 22 yr old Hitler and it would have the same effect.

The gilding wasn't there last month.
Trump meets Ukranian president in front of Oval Office fireplace in late February 2025. The firebox header is blank white stone (marble?)

Here’s another unimportant but revealing little tidbit I just noticed. They glued/taped what are nearly guaranteed to be cheap plastic gilded ornamentations to the Oval Office fireplace this month. Glue or tape are the least invasive options I can thing of, and I hang stuff on walls for a living.
Trump meets Irish Prime Minister in Oval Office in front the the fireplace. The area above the hearth that has always been blank white stone (marble?) is filled with gaudy, baroque gold ornamentation, acanthus leaves, etc...

I have a real hard time listening to artist philosophy bullshit when the typography is bad, intentional or not.
Presentation slide with horrible typography. Mixing serifs and sand serifs, monospaced and not, stacked quotations next to a colon, and wide fully justified paragraphs. Aggressively unreadable.

The text itself says some artist mumbo jumbo bullshit.

This image could be greatly de-sphinctered by just getting rid of the radial gradients/feathering. And not using pink, obviously. Submitting to present on this subject (infographics that look like anuses) at next year’s festival.

Working on a project for a biotech company, typing “wet lab” into the stock photo search, and you know what, fair enough.
Screenshot of search results for “wet lab” (a type of research facility) that produced primarily photos of dogs in and around water.
