Amazon has some "details" about me to "personalise" my "experience". It essentially amounts to "has a cat" and probably "takes photos of cats".
Screenshot of Amazon’s “About you” beta page listing inferences drawn from my shopping: that I have a cat, prefer Whiskas, repeatedly buy cat food, and likely own photography equipment and practise photography.

Any of you done an M1 MacBook Air screen replacement? How'd it go? Daughter's screen is broken, and I'm tempted to get a random repair kit to give it a couple more years of life. Thoughts? geni.us/6uBs4q

Just stumbled on these unopened official #Ubuntu T-shirts in my loft. The three green Intrepid Ibex ones are especially rare. Only about 70 were sold back in October 2008.
Five Ubuntu T-shirts in transparent bags laid out on the lawn. One is back with orange writing, one is sand coloured with the Feisty Fawn logo, and the other three are lime green with the Intrepid Ibex logo on.

Incentivised Rightmove forum "Living Room" asks "what does moving mean to you?" Top effort award goes to the guy who pasted his ChatGPT response including the bit where it says "here is a ready-made formula you can copy or modify directly." Beautiful. Peak 2026 #AI #slop.
Screenshot of email from Rightmove app:

"Your views could win you £150

Hi Alan,

We’re excited to invite you to Living Room, our online research panel. Once you’ve joined, you could win up to £150 in our monthly prize draws.

What’s involved?

We’ll invite you to share your opinions on a range of topics through surveys and polls. You’ll have the chance to chat to other members, and share ideas which could shape the future of Rightmove.

Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you can get involved as much or as little as you like. Anything you share is confidential, and only used for research purposes."A question posted by moderators on the forum:

"What does “moving” mean to you?
People often use the word “moving” in different ways, and we’re interested in understanding what it means from your perspective.

For some people, moving may begin once they start actively looking for a property, while for others it could start much earlier - for example when thinking about a different lifestyle, researching areas, or exploring finances. Equally, some people may feel the process continues well after they’ve physically moved in.

This week, we’d like to explore how you personally think about the moving journey.
What does “moving” mean to you in your own words?
When do you feel a move starts, if at all?
When does it feel “finished”?
What kinds of activities or experiences do you associate with moving?

There are no right or wrong answers - we’re interested in your own experiences, language, and perspective."A 100% AI generated answer from a user, including their prompt:

"This question is deep and excellent, and seems to be part of a questionnaire or group discussion aimed at understanding the “human and psychological experience” behind the move from house to house, not just the material aspect.

Since they are looking for your personal expressions, here is a ready-made formula, written in a realistic style and an integrated perspective that combines planning and psychological stability. You can copy or modify it directly:

Suggested text for participation:

“For me, the word 'move' or moving doesn't just mean packing bags and moving furniture from point (a) to point (b), it is a journey of transition from a lifestyle to a whole new lifestyle.

When does the move start?

I feel that the move starts too early, especially the moment when the idea and the desire for change are born. It begins when I embark on imagining the new shape of life, actively researching the target areas, examining the options available (such as looking for suitable housing, location, and surrounding services) and balancing financial matters. This mental stage is the actual beginning of the journey.

When do I feel finished?

The move doesn't end once the last box in the new house is unloaded. For me, I feel 'finished' only when I reach the stage of psychological stability and familiarity; that is, when the new place becomes familiar, and the daily details follow, and it turns from just a 'rented or new property' to a warm place where we feel belonging and stable.

Activities and experiences related to movement:

I always associate the move with a mix of activities: long research and comparison between real estate and areas, the arrangement and classification of holdings, the management of paper transactions and contracts, up to the experience of exploring the new neighborhood, getting to know neighbors, and building a new daily routine.”A screenshot of a response:

"Moving, to me, means more than just transporting belongings from one place to another. It’s the process of shifting part of your life routines, comfort, memories, and expectations. From one environment into another. It can feel exciting, stressful, hopeful, exhausting, or all of those at once.

I think a move starts mentally before anything physical happens. Usually it begins when the decision is made, or when you first realise you’ll be leaving somewhere behind. After that, little things start changing. Sorting possessions, making plans, telling people, imagining the new place. Physically packing boxes is only part of it.

A move feels “finished” when the new place begins to feel normal rather than temporary. That might be when everything is unpacked, when you know where things are without thinking, when routines settle, or when it starts to feel like home emotionally rather than just somewhere you’re staying.

The activities I associate with moving include packing, cleaning, organising, paperwork, travelling, unpacking, decorating, and getting familiar with a new area. But I also associate it with saying goodbye, adjusting emotionally, meeting new people, creating routines, and sometimes rediscovering what’s important because you have to decide what comes with you and what doesn’t."
