Phew! What a great event! I've now ignored every game, developer, and publisher who participated, and all that's left to show is all the event organiser's MLM onboarding videos!

Pepper update! Bigger, leafier, and FILLED with peppers — some are even starting to turn red! I reckon I'll be eating some of them before too long! 🫑 🤤

Update on the pepper plants: THEY'RE GROWING PEPPERS! I don't know why I'm surprised, but I'm feeling an odd sense of pride in becoming a pepper-poppa 🫑

Tucked within a dense green foliage hangs half a dozen baby green peppers, growing out from within the petals of pale white flowers that they're now shedding.

One pepper, in particular, is being held up for display by my hand.

Results of my research —hopefully there's stuff here you didn't already know— screenshot w/alt text to avoid spamming your notifications with a dozen responses. ✌️ Holla if there's owt else I can help with!

Stuff that causes boot-loops:

1. The OS isn't corrupted, but something is preventing it from working — maybe a dumb or malicious 3rd-party app.

2. Something in the OS has corrupted; can happen as part of a faulty update, or an indicator of something more malicious.

3. Faulty internal components causing wild behaviour.

To find out which, I'd come at it like:

#1 — If you catch it boot-looping then, instead of a factory reset, boot into safe mode (it's device-specific, so you'll need to look-up how to do it for your phone); if you get past the loop in safe mode then there's something operating in non-safe mode that's fucking with the boot process — start uninstalling things in order of most-recent first and see what works. If you really like your phone and can't solve this by yourself then this might be the time to find a phone shop that has some cybersecurity knowhow?

#2 — Factory reset (you've already done), disable automatic system updates, find the latest update for your device online and install it manually; if that causes the boot-loop then keep installing older-and-older releases until you find one that doesn't. Alternatively you can try a different Android OS; after doing some research, GrapheneOS seems like the best out there as it fully de-Google's your phone — LineageOS is also an option, though Google still has some of its hooks dug-in there.

#3 — This could be water damage or it could be overheating (though the latter could be an indicator of #1, too), or it could even be a loose bit of solder; if #1 and #2 don't fix this then it's probably #3, and you'd need to open it up to get to the bottom of it. I'm out of my depth here, though, and you'd probably need to take it into a phone shop...

So, literally ~2 months ago, on a whim, I sprinkled some leftover seeds from a pepper I'd cut-up for dinner into a couple pots and gave'em some water AND NOW LOOK AT THESE BEAUTIES?! Holy hell! I wish all plants were this easy to grow?! 😍🌱

Just got back from Delhi, and, can confirm: cables really just add something 😙👌

@bcmerchant.bsky.social - I'm really enjoying the book so far, but this one bit makes no sense if you pronounce the Welsh words correctly: "Lluydda" sounds like "Chloitha" 😅

Excerpt from Brian Merchant's Book - "Blood in the Machine" - which investigates the origin of the "Ludd" / "Luddite" name:

"The word Uuyd in Welch [sic], signifies an army or camp; Lluydda, in the same language, is make war; and Lluyddar is a soldier"

...the pronunciation sounds completely different to the word "Ludd" as it's pronounced in English - it all only makes sense if you don't speak Welsh 🫣

I've been doing a pottery workshop the last few weeks to learn how to throw clay, and these are the survivors - pretty happy with how some of'em turned out!

A shallow clay bowl glazed in green, where the rim has baked a satisfyingly dark brown. This was originally much taller, but I fucked up and had to cut it down to hide the evidence...

A taller bowl than the last where the edges are curved out slightly; glazed in a mix of green and brown, with a mottled texture where the two colours meet. Throwing rings are clearly visible on this one - particularly at the bottom.

A clay bowl, glazed in green, about the same size as the last one but with a significantly cleaner and more confident shape to it.

A small clay mug with a coppery-brown glaze; bigger at the bottom and curving in at the top, like a vase with a handle on the side, giving it a bit of a hobbity vibe.

So I asked my brother (the biggest camera nerd I know) about this critera, and got this response, if it's of any use to you?

Transcript from messsaging app: "so my camera does all of this - the fuji x-t5, but whilst the autofocus does have the eye tracking, its not up to sony standards. It would work and be probably mostly fine, but if they ever used the sony options, the autofocus is THAT much better they'd probably end up regretting not spending the extra! The sony a7 v is coming out soon, which could make used prices of some of the other sony options come down a notch. Its my only gripe moving from sony back to fuji. Autofocus. Sony is so good, it feels like cheating, haha"
