David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 07/09/2026Oh wow. Well I guess it could actually be different people in the two shots then. 120
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 07/09/2026”The lenses in the close ups don’t look that long, the cameras would be visible in the wide. How long did they sit like that while they rearranged cameras?” 0315

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 18/02/2026I think now that anyone can make Marvel style visuals we’ll see some really interesting stuff, maybe with a grungier more ”handmade” feel. Since you can’t compete by going bigger and flashier you’ll have to compete by being more interesting and unique. That’s my hope anyway. 2292
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 18/02/2026A weird side effect of seeing all these Hollywood blockbuster style AI videos is that I get less and less interested in watching actual Hollywood blockbusters. It’s kind of like when someone makes a parody of a genre that’s so accurate that it ruins it and you can’t see/do it the same way again. 1273

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 02/01/2026The last three Spanish films I’ve seen; The Coffee Table, Kidnapped, and Cell 211 have all been so incredibly bleak. Spain are you ok? 5527
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 31/12/2025Most disturbing film watched: Kidnapped (2010). Brutal and bleak watch. Some impressive technical feats like the long unbroken takes and a head smash that almost rivals Irreversible. But man, you just feel bad after watching. 2111
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 31/12/2025A few new to me films that I enjoyed: Trouble in Paradise (1932) The Sea Wolf (1941) Brief Encounter (1945) The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) The Fallen Idol (1948) The Children’s Hour (1961) The Servant (1963) Seven Days in May (1964) Gambit (1966) The Incident (1967) The Chaser (2008) 71 (2014) 220

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 26/07/2025Yeah at first I had the text on for longer and it followed the footage off screen but it didn’t feel right. Since it has that old 70s look it felt too modern and out of place for me. 110

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 18/07/2025Yep. I’ve done some tests syncing audio and it’s been pretty successful but I just didn’t have enough film to waste on shooting a clapper board. Just start rolling and action! 🙂 120
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 18/07/2025Camera is good but I also use de-flickering and stabilizing in Resolve for a more steady, consistent image. I don’t remove any grain (I actually sharpen everything a bit) but I use the dust buster tool in Resolve to take out the biggest dirt and hairs. I’m going to do a youtube video on my process. 120
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 17/07/2025It’s funny how the compression removes so much of the grain that it looks more like 16mm film or something. 2160

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 22/05/2025I just learned they’re doing a ”Dancing with the Stars” and ”Shark Week” mashup called ”Dancing with Sharks”. Like, how do you even make jokes anymore? 3290
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 17/05/2025I found what appears to be a production still where you can see there’s no background in the mirror, only black, so it was probably done because there was no set back there. 2200
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 16/05/2025Trying to avoid seeing a non-existent part of the set? Avoid seeing lights? 3170
David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher.social · 16/05/2025Very puzzled by this bit in ”The Spiral Staircase”. She’s standing in front of a mirror but in the wide shots it’s clearly not a mirror but a flat picture (without her reflection). Very obvious when camera moves. What could be the reason for this? 9544
