I think Valves genAI disclosure policy is toothless considering how many games use genAI and don't disclose and yet face no punishment over it whatsoever.

The hardest part about working on your own projects is definitely keeping up the routine. For some reason my brain always judges work I do for others as more important than when I do it for myself. Maybe I need to trick myself into thinking it's not for myself

Got my GOG version of Morrowind to run on my Steam Deck via OpenMW. I love Morrowinds Hypertext style Dialogue System and I am heavily considering implementing something similar into my game

I just had a realisation of why XBOX's new CEO makes such seemingly nonsensical decisions (like saying TES will get more funding and then firing half the gamedev team of ESO and firing people at bethesda), she probably let's AI decide what decisions to make....

After what google is doing to android i don't trust corporations with stuff like this anymore. ActivityPub is more widely used anyway.

we could all just have used mastodon instead, but for some reason decided putting our faith in yet another centralised platform controlled by a company makes more sense

I was looking through the replies to see id anyone mentions it cause I watched The Dark Crystal for the first time yesterday and I have never seen a movie like it! But I did have my fair share of traumatic movies as a kid, like A Land Before Our Time, Watership Down and Princess Mononoke

that and wasn't the condition under which they were allowed to buy Activision/Blizzard and Zenimax/Bethesda that they keep those games multi-platform?

Sharma has no idea what she is doing. She says they want to be less reliant on outsourced stuff like UE5 and have a "self-reliant engineering culture"...and then she goes and fires all the engineers who make idTech, their inhouse game engine they could have used for Halo instead of UE5...

The ngo that's pushing for internet access control ("age verification") is funded by Meta, their goal isn't to protect children (as there are better ways for that, like patental controls) but to be able to verify who is human so they can make more money from advertisers and do even more surveillance

Since people are talking about physical media being discontinued by Sony: imo it wouldn't be an issue if the digital media was DRM-free. If it's not DRM-free you do not own it.

Once again the devs are fired instead of the people responsible for all that mismanagement. Then they will try to squeeze out more money from customers enshittifying their games and wonder why their games became worse and why they are losing even more customers and fire even more workers...

Do companies not realise that using genAI in marketing material ruins brand value? Because customers see that they can't even afford to pay an artist. Unless I am misunderstanding and their entire goal is to have genAI scam aura.

I think it's hilarious how Tim Sweeney desperately wants the Metaverse to still be a thing and thinks gamers would be happier if they could spend more money on in-game items. Being out of touch seems to be a hobby for some CEOs

Not being able to side-load a browser is a bit too much. It's like Apple's walled garden. I thought the Commodore was supposed to be a computing device you own and do whatever you want with. No matter your "patented system level blocking approach" it will be hacked/jailbroken

I hope that once the AI bubble bursts and people realise it only burnt money and did never have a ROI, that all the managers and CEOs that pushed for it get fired and never get a management job again as they have less knowledge to lead a company than ANY of their employees do

Gen AI is a great filter scenario that will prevent us from ever becoming a type 1 civ. Factual information, the ability to do research & fact checking on your own will all die out. People will become worse at core skills & those who have the skills to fix the generated errors will eventually retire

The irony of this one is hilarious. That people, including this author, don't seem to realise NOT using LLMs is an option too, confuses me. it's like these people stopped thinking for themselves and can't fathom not using the bullshit machine arstechnica.com/ai/2026/05/a...

Big data companies make most of their money with ads. Since AI, advertisers can't be sure their ads get shown to real people. Hence ID verification is being pushed. If it was for the kids they'd just make exploitative retention techniques on social media illegal, but that would cause them to lose $

So this Anthropic study found that using AI coding tools made people learn less, debug worse, and didn't make them significantly faster at all. Funny how these supposed amazing AI benefits never seem to show up in studies.
