started ‘how dogs learn’ by mary burch for my degree. on the first page it mentions the onslaught of psuedoscience in the dog industry. this was published in 1999 and this problem has never been more prevalent thanks to the click-ability of dog pseudoscience on social media. owners pls read this!

wait for a break and then come back and sit with her again. repeat and over time she should eventually realise that she’s safe and that you aren’t going to leave her. there are also diffusers that you can plug in that release calming smells to relax them. i find those helpful. good luck! :)

in the day and feed her some treats and pet her. at night, bring her there again and don’t make too much of a fuss but just sit with her till she settles. no touching unless she initiates as this can work them up. then leave slowly and quietly. if she starts barking or whining,

starting a canine behaviour degree in september 🙋 personally i’d start by giving her some calming treats or then i’d create a low-traffic and cozy safe space for her to retreat to. then in the days i’d try to do some very sniffy walks as these ease anxiety. i’d bring her to the safe area at

15 year olds deserve privacy. There are some things parents can and should do for 15 year olds (make sure they're not getting preyed on, help keep them safe from doing exceedingly dumb things) but one of them should be helping them learn self-reliance by allowing them to rely on themselves.

one of the things i curse the universe about is that it put me and one of my closest friends about a 12 hour train journey from one another. we found one another despite the distance but i always think of what things would be like if we lived closer. much better, i believe.
