and i think it's abundantly clear that the artists creating these cards are meticulous about character details - so if Legendary Secret was meant to be Shogun Shien, I doubt they would have made the armour look so different! There's even a TRULY accurate Shogun Shien on a card from 2017 btw! (8/x)

anyway, i'm getting off-track - i'm annoyed that people assume the Legendary Secret is Great Shogun Shien's spirit after he loses a battle to Kagemusha/Shadow-Shien in "Face-Off" the thing is, we don't know if he loses! as far as we know, the fight ends "Evenly Matched" with no resolution! (7/x)

but there's EVEN MORE to that story, because Mizuho's necklace might belong to ANOTHER character who's got this long-standing dynamic (possibly beef?) with the archetype's OG staple card?? and this story goes as far back as ONE OF THE FIRST YUGIOH CARDS, Kagemusha of the Blue Flame?? (6/x)

but to get a bit deeper for a sec, did you know they may have had a CHILD? The Secret Six Samurai - Hatsume (2024) coincidentally takes the highest ATK/DEF between the two, is Water like Shinai, shares his hair colour, and has an effect tributing AND reviving cards! and hidden in her art... (5/x)

you can tell from the names and pictures that they were obviously linked in some way - and in their "future" art, it seems Shinai died while Mizuho hung up her armour and began training the next generation of the Six Samurai let's see if the cards have anything to say about that! (4/x)

thinking about this dweeb in the Yugioh OCG Structures manga who goes to a local tournament, trounces the protagonist with a meta deck (giving him an awful first tournament experience), then BMs instead of going for the handshake “don’t bother wishing me luck” YOU’RE 3 APPLES TALL

mind you, this kid is a full head shorter than the protagonist, he wears a big alien head on his belt buckle and massive big-eyed sunglasses, also a cape. his name is Saiko Tendo, and everyone calls him “Psychic Tendo”, and none of these design elements point to the fact he plays an Eldlich deck in this chapter of the manga. he’s kind of a legend for that.

this manga takes place in “the real world” by the way, and most characters wear normal people clothes.

another panel, this fuckin kid is walking down the stairs and giving 3’ Piccolo aura. protagonist’s eyes are blacked out, so are the TO’s, while this kid says “Don’t bother wishing me luck.”

re: LRT and this - i’m extremely guilty of doing this type of self-tone-policing and it’s awful it starts with adding too many qualifiers to your writing (“i think”, “i feel”) and you start sounding wayyy too unsure of yourself. a script i’m currently editing had like, 70+ instances of unnecessary

the latest episode of Vs Wolves missed the opportunity to start discourse around “Appropriate Arc Length” because the Chimera Ant arc of Hunter X Hunter (at least in 2011) is the length of literally the entire series before it, and they said that’s a valid reason to drop Homestuck after Act 4
