The Ouroboros Hypothesis: A Synthetic Framework for Cyclic Cosmology Connecting Black Hole Cosmology, Loop Quantum Cosmology, and M-Theory Compactification
Several independent research programs in theoretical physics have converged on elements of a cyclic cosmological picture without being explicitly connected: torsion-induced bounce cosmology (Popławski), higher-dimensional Loop Quantum Cosmology (Zhang), M-theory compactification on G2 holonomy manifolds (Acharya-Kane-Kumar), covariant black-hole-to-white-hole transitions (Rovelli-Vidotto-Haggard-Christodoulou), and string gas thermodynamics (Brandenberger-Vafa). This paper proposes the Ouroboros Hypothesis as an architectural framework connecting these programs through a two-layer dimensional structure: seven compactified dimensions on a G2 holonomy manifold persist topologically invariantly across cycles, encoding physical law, while four large dimensions are generated anew at each bounce. Original contributions include a threshold condition specifying which late-cycle collapses produce successor universes, an explicit account of spacetime generation at the bounce, a thermodynamic argument from String Gas Cosmology supporting the stability of the compact dimensions, and a mechanism for low-entropy initial conditions that does not require Penrose’s assumption of universal particle masslessness. The near-equality of the Schwarzschild radius of the observable universe’s mass and the Hubble radius is identified as a cosmological consistency feature of the framework. Falsifiable predictions include the JWST galaxy rotation asymmetry (Shamir 2025) and deviations from standard four-dimensional LQC echo timescales accessible to third-generation gravitational wave detectors. The derivation of the partially-compactified bounce dynamics from Zhang’s higher-dimensional LQC framework is identified as the central open problem on which quantitative predictions depend. The framework is offered as a synthesis node — strengthening each contributing program while requiring no claim of exclusive explanatory power.
