I don't think I'll ever be able to take voices of the anti-lala crowd seriously knowing and seeing first hand that we literally brought Gridania to its knees and flooded the Shroud. The numbers truly are a gulf between. It definitely raised my confidence in myself a whole lot more, for sure.

“Cap’n! I got this book today that I’d like you to read to me, pretty please~?” Yuuko begged Fyrstyrm to read her a story book that was recommended by Yuusei.

“Aight aight, ya did brush yer teeth though, aye?” Fyrstyrm snorted as he knew the reading won’t be long since she’s burning through her sugar spike.

“MMHM!” Yuuko replied proudly as she puffed up some of the pillows in front of the fireplace, getting ready for Fyr’s reading.

Fyr grabbed the the book and made himself comfortable next to Yuuko.

“Golden Fate... sounds interesting, I’ll read ya one chapter for tonight, since we already stayed up this late, aight?”

Yuuko yawned and nodded “My foot is already in dream land, come on read~”

Fyr cleared his throat then started reading.

The further Fyrstyrm read the more deeply he got invested in the story, but then he remembered he was reading the story to Yuuko. He looked at her only to find her hugging her pillow with drool all over it. He quietly closed the book, leaned closer and kissed her forehead. “I’d never cast you down. In fact you are the one who saved me, my sweet princess.”

He could divine the future and hear the whispers of the eight winds. One day, he heard whispers coming from the future, warning him of relentless tides that would swallow his kingdom whole. The king did not know how to interpret such visions. Time and again he tried the same method, only for the wingless vulpine boy to appear in several different places, always looking up at the starry sky.

Several weeks after the ominous whispers crept into his mind, he was blessed with a child. His heart hammered with worry which made him check on his child’s back, only to find two slits but without wings. He was shocked, as the image of that boy in his visions had the same back slits as his newborn child. As he was processing the shock, the kingdom and all the innocent civilians were devoured slowly by the black fog. Filled with determination and heartache, the wise king with his companion wrote a spell that held the hopes and dreams they longed for and cast it upon the king’s child. to send him down safely to another place, farther away from their now devoured kingdom.”

The newly formed squad of Storm pups were having their first one-on-one test, where they’ll have to test their skills and roles in battle. Khuja’a and Frutlona passed the test with flying colours. They managed to understand their own strengths and weaknesses quite fast.

The two storm commanders were looking forward to the mock battle between the role of a healer against a guardian. Little did they know about Rosa’s unique healing style, which incorporates physical touch in the form of a healer monk. To their surprise, and Yuuko’s as well, Rosa held some kind of grudge against people who don’t take their roles seriously.
Yuuko was NOT anticipating such fast attacks from a ‘supposed’ healer which led to both of them failing their test.

“I won’t accept you as our guardian!! This role doesn’t fit weaklings like you!!” Rosa shouted at Yuuko as the Roegadyn commander held her down, stopping her from further attacking Yuuko.

“High-strung hounds like you should be healing and protecting instead of trying to fill an already occupied role! CHEATER!” Yuuko shouted back at Rosa as the Lalafell commander held her back, stopping her from retaliating at Rosa.

Few days after the incident, Yuuko was depressed because she failed a simple mock battle test. She was hoping to wind down and relax by visiting her neighbour’s house.

Yuusei was doing her routine training in the garden as Inari was taking her beauty nap.

Yuuko sighed “So, I failed my test few days ago. All coz of that Gyr Abanian hound! ...say Mrs.Nagakawa, as someone who uses the art of the fist, have you got any tips for me on how to fight back? I am trying to be a guardian but that bloody hound’s standing in my way! UGH!”

Both Yuusei and Inari were stunned in two different ways. Yuusei wasn’t used to many insults thrown in a single sentence which caught her off guard. While Inari was enjoying Yuuko’s anger.

“If you are so mad at this ‘hound’, why not ask us to train you? I’ll gladly teach you all those weak spots! You’ll instantly win without breaking a sweat.”

“Inari!!! don’t fan her angry flames!! Look, uhm Miss Fyrwyn—”

“Just call me by me name~”

“...uhm Yuuko-san, We’ll be glad to be your training partners, as long as you wake up early and meet us here every morning. You must be serious with time.”

“REALLY?! You will?! Are you sure? you won’t be busy with your shop?! if not, then I promise I will be here early! I’ll keep training and make both of you proud by beating that prickly paissa!”

“Ehe Yuuko-san, the battle of the mind is the more important one. Your main foe is your mistrust in your own abilities. Keep your focus on your feet and legs! Since you already have a strong sense of control with your steps. So training tomorrow will be mostly on footwork techniques.”

Yuuko nodded excitedly at Yuusei “Awright!! Thank you very much Mrs.Nagakawa! I’ll be faster than a coeurl in no time!”

“Mrs. Nagakawa, I have been curious about something for quite sometime now,” Amalthea said as she was organising her bag.

“Hmm? Curious? about what?” Yuusei replied as she was doing her morning stretches before they head out.

“Are you perhaps part of a musical troupe? I have noticed you spend a lot of time discussing a lot of topics with ser Oschonsong, seeing as he always lights up whenever the topic veers toward anything related to music or theatre.”

“E..eh?! but I have no music talent. But theatre? like, play in stage?”

“Correct. For several months now I have seen you dye your hair at least three colours.”

“ah...aaah! I am understanding your question now!” Yuusei shook her head then continued, “I don’t put colour in my hair. My hair make change its colour whenever the seasons trade places!”

“...Is this the truth? This is the first time I heard such a thing. Hmm I do not mean to sound harsh or disbelieve your affliction. Does this harm you in anyway? Or is this some sort of aether sickness?”

“ahh wait wait Miss Oaks! ehe it not disease. It uhmmm how I say this... right! My aether is very sensitive to season changes. I not know the reason behind this truth, but! it like asking birds how they fly and they answer that uhm.. they just do?”

“Hm. There is a perfect explanation for how birds fly though. Nevertheless, I think I have gained better understanding of your affli— uhm aether sensitivity. Mind if I asked another question regarding the colouration of your hair?” Amalthea asked as she was tying her hair.

“Un! I thinking your questions are nice! I never thinking you bad or harsh person, Miss Oaks.”

Amalthea smiled slightly as she continued tying her hair.
“Well, thank you. Your aether sensitivity is akin to the way trees bloom and wither throughout the seasons. But my question is, Do the colours change at random? or do they indicate the season?”

Yuusei pondered on the question for a bit then answered, “ah! it always same colour for each season! From the season of night it rage red like fire! Around the bloom season it turns pink. Just like the sakura trees, ehe! uhm hair turn green just like now at the season of day. Which is my original hair colour. It always green before my sensitivity became more. Eto~ then season of withering is when colour becomes brown. Hmmm Miss Oaks you have point when you mentioned trees...”

Amalthea smiled at Yuusei while attempting to gently wake Khubli. “Hm, My hope for you is to find the source of your sensitivity as soon as possible, Mrs. Nagakawa.”

Yuusei was putting on her boots and replied “Ah uhm, I want to make request. Can you call me Yuusei? We friends by this time, ne?”

Amalthea nodded at Yuusei while brushing Khubli’s soft fur “Alright Yuusei. As long as you call me Amalthea, or Thea.”

Yuusei nodded happily. “Un! Amalthea-san! We are ready to get some pure mythril now! It was calling all night! Come Khubli, we’ll get you some nice pure silver on the way.”

Khubli instantly got up. “Erhn nu da!”
