Atop a shimmering white and gold platform carrying a pool of bright water, nestled in a pond with aquatic flora, Ryuhiko (Raen Au Ra, he/him and she/her pronouns) and his mother, Kikuchi-no-Hanami (Raen Au Ra, she/her pronouns) are engaged in an altercation with one another. The fight is likely over a myriad of things, as they tend to be, but Hanami's diminutive stature prevents her from reaching out and grabbing either Ryuhiko - be it his wrist or her own staff, held over her in the opposite hand. Their traditional roles are reversed, with Ryuhiko above his mother while she is on her knees below; it is little wonder she is enraged and screaming at him as he darts away from her. Ryuhiko's own expression is not visible, but his body language angles him backwards, even if he would fall - sinking to her level - to escape her. The white lotus remains out of frame. The bluebird flies away, rushing out of the scene; it has served its purpose. Faintly, in the bottom of the frame, blue serpent scales can just barely be seen. The ouroboros lingers. The cycle continues.
