PNHP president Dr. Diljeet Singh set the record straight on physician moral injury, which is often misdiagnosed as “burnout.” She told the On Becoming a Healer podcast that currently practicing physicians can “come be an advocate with us [and] we can change the system” that is harming our patients.

#TBT our 2019 Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, where Dr. Abdul El-Sayed delivered an inspirational keynote: “Doctors, Politics & Medicare for All” It should come as no surprise that physicians are yearning, and organizing, for a real solution to our health care crisis: improved Medicare for All.
Dr. Abdul El-Sayed delivers the keynote address at PNHP’s 2019 annual meeting in Philadelphia. He stands at a simple lectern, smiling while delivering a PowerPoint from a laptop.

“In the coming years, as politicians debate ‘universal healthcare,‘ we need those words to be much more than a campaign slogan. Healthcare must be a true human right, easily exercised by every single person in America. We can and we will make that right a reality with Medicare for All.”

Deprivatization “could save Ohioans between $450 and $850 million a year...simplify the system, [and] increase participation from doctors who don't currently accept Medicaid.” The same holds true for every other state that contracts with corporate health insurers to administer Medicaid benefits.

Did you know: Medicare for All would allocate capital funding based on community need—not the potential to deliver huge profits to investors? Building and upgrading hospitals and clinics in this manner would dramatically expand access for marginalized Americans, and would save countless lives.

Trump's $900 BILLION in Medicaid cuts are putting almost 450 hospitals at risk of closing or reducing services. Rural hospitals that serve Black & Latino communities are most at risk. These closures would be deadly. Congress must take action and restore this funding.
