“Memory care” sounds like a promise of expertise. But does the facility actually deliver when care gets difficult? Tony Chicotel joins CodeWACK! to talk about the gap between marketing and reality, and what families should know before choosing care. loom.ly/B5DEt88

What looks like “bad behavior” in dementia may actually be pain, fear, confusion, boredom, or an unmet need. Before choosing memory care, ask hard questions, watch for red flags, and look for care built around dignity, staffing, and root causes. loom.ly/B5DEt88

Health coverage isn’t just about having an insurance card. It’s about whether people can actually get care when they need it.

Behavior can look like the problem. Sometimes it’s actually the message. In dementia care, pain, fear, confusion, or boredom can show up as behavior, and that can even become grounds for eviction. This week, Tony Chicotel explains why we need to look for the cause. loom.ly/B5DEt88

That is not a normal marketplace. And patients should not be expected to “shop around” for life-saving care the way they shop for a vacation. No one should have to wonder whether getting treatment today means getting crushed by a bill tomorrow.

HEAL California @healcalifornia.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
A hospital bill can follow someone for years, long after the emergency itself is over. Payment plans may make the bill smaller each month, but they don’t make the underlying problem disappear. Health care should not come with a debt sentence.

Health insurance is supposed to protect people from financial disaster. Too often, it feels like the opposite. A system that leaves people bargaining over hospital bills, delaying care, or going into debt just to get treated isn’t working the way it should.
