Simply Statistics: Biologists, stop putting UMAP plots in your papers
UMAP is a powerful tool for exploratory data analysis, but without a clear understanding of how it works, it can easily lead to confusion and misinterpretation.

The aroma of jasmine rice is due to 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline. In a GWAS study, a WKRY TF was found to enhance rice aroma by repressing the expression of an aldehyde dehydrogenase (BADH2) that modifies 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline. Interesting example of double repression. From: www.cell.com/molecular-pl...
Chemical structure of 2-acetyl-1-pyrroline. A Manhattan plot showing association of SNPs to the abundance of 2-acetyl-pyrroline. Two hits, WRKY19 & BADH2 are highlighted with arrows.
