The bulk of Shearwater activity at Penlee seawatch yesterday, was the first 20 mins from 07.05. Couldn’t count Manx while pulling out rarer Shearwaters. As the murk quickly cleared they were replaced by Kittiwakes & Terns. 7 Great, 3 Sooty & 5 Balearic Shear, c465 Kits, 36 Sandwich & 2 Arctic Tern.

A few of us have made representations to the NT but it’s fell on deaf ears. They are chasing funding and don’t seem to care about the collateral damage. We are hoping to crank up our campaign so would be grateful for support from anyone who cares.

More than half way through our Sichuan trip now, and here’s just a few of the highlights: Chestnut-throated Monal-Partridge, Chinese Monal, Lady Amherst’s Pheasant & Ural (Pete David’s) Owl. Also some great scenery, interesting food and a friendly welcome everywhere.

Lovely blue skies in Sierra de Andújar, but only one very brief sighting of a Lynx. However, Alison did really well to pick it up, and it was the only sighting by anyone, during our stay. Now in Seville enjoying Hoopoes, Ferruginous Duck, Little Bittern, Sardinian Warbler, Wryneck etc in the park.

Crested Doradito near Karanambu, a Jaguarundi being rehabilitated there, the scarce Guianan Shield endemics Hoary-throated Spinetail & Rio Branco Antbird, a horseback ride seeing Giant Anteater at Waikin & a Sunbittern by the dining room at Wichabai, are just a few of our recent Guyanan highlights.

Just back from an impromptu 10-days in Tanzania, with Alison, booked at short notice after our Madagascar holiday was cancelled. 123 species of birds seem, 26 of which were lifers including Crab Plover. Also plenty of mammals. Most time on Zanzibar but also a short visit to Saadani NP. Great hol!

The Government has tabled 67 last-minute amendments to the Planning & Infrastructure Bill.‼️ Rushed through with little scrutiny, it’s a shambolic way to reform the planning system. It creates confusion, sidelines science and leaves nature dangerously exposed. (1/3)
A Wren stands upright on a mossy branch, beak open in full song, small but defiant. Against a soft golden blur, it seems to speak out for nature itself: a clear voice cutting through the noise, refusing to be ignored.

That happened a bit quicker than expected but the main body of Langmere at East Wretham Heath is now dry. With these unusual water bodies filled by the water table it's hard to know when it might fill again. Last time it was April when it started filling but could be longer. #NorfolkBirding
