I will read every interview with Heated Rivalry writer and director Jacob Tierney because his quotes are truly a reporter's dream: www.rollingstone.com/music/music-...

"They made me feel really old,” he says. “They were like, ‘What is a wolf and why is it on parade?’ And I was like, ‘I hate both of you.’ And I was like, ‘Feist? 1,2,3,4?’ And they’re like, ‘Oh yeah, we watched that on Sesame Street.’ And I was like, ‘Again, I’d like to push you down a flight of stairs. Your youth enrages me.’”

it's an audio story, so no actual book, but it's made up of 3 parts that are about 30 minutes each. yes m/m though!

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

it's completely separate from heated rivalry universe lol but the actors have such good chemistry now they are doing other stuff together

110

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 02/01/2026

think of it as a mix between a BL CD and an audiobook... and shane's and ilya's actors are the 2 seiyuu

the tweet on twitter actually straight up says "heated rivalry" lmao

gacha games are one of the forerunners of the gambling blight that sickens our world but on the other hand there's a lot of gay sex written and drawn by fans of the games so who's to say they're all bad

yep! it IS funny tho... finally it was gay fanfiction's turn after all the het romances that started as fic getting movies

010

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 11/12/2025

(i actually have seen the quote where the author says it started off as original and she made it fic just to post on ao3 to get feedback prior to publishing but idk if i believe that lol)

110

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 11/12/2025

the first book of the series did, afaik the remainder are original. the show is based on book 2 (completely diff teams and focus couple, but does have characters from book 1 show up)

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 11/12/2025

SA all the way down is really sports in general :( actually one of the books in the series (not one of the 2 focused on shane and ilya) deals with that a little

010

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 11/12/2025

YEAH THAT'S SO BLEAK. i find it easy to believe but it's very sad and yes the sexy scenes are sooo good

100

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 11/12/2025

lol yeah shane and ilya takes place over 10+ years and 2 books so it necessitates some time jumps but it was jarring on my first watch too

stealing this from tumblr.. it's about community!!!

screenshot of a tumblr post + reblog

OP (rooksunday):
okay but there is something disquieting about this urge to cast fan writers as altruists. they give us all this for free!! well, no.

they’re sharing

it’s a key difference in perception. fic isn’t given. it’s shared. it’s part of a fandom community— in which readers are also an integral part.

it’s probably inevitable mission creep from the increasingly transactional nature of the internet and fandom-as-consumerism, which was always gonna happen after corps worked out how much bank there is to make from those weirdo fan people

but like. fandom is sharing. i think we’ve lost that somewhere.

reblog by silvermoon434, showing a screencap of a comment by auberginesdonthavelimbs:
fandom is a potluck. you can come and eat the food even if you didn't bring anything, but if you just take food and leave and don't interact with anyone that's kind of weird. the point of the potluck is to hang out.

especially when it's like about stereotypes about lesbians like this . just love to invite themselves to be like "this doesn't apply to me" well yes because no one was talking about you.

030

juna @plumeriade.bsky.social · 17/10/2025

one thing that's the same between twitter and bluesky is that if someone makes a post about a lesbian thing a significant amount of the replies will be from people declaring themselves bisexual
