Signs of fascism: at the London protest, Human Rights Watch organized a series of placards with signs of fascism. Black signs, white letters, with content like using secret police, attacking immigrants, voter suppression, etc.

In London on vacation, so have come to the small No Tyrants protest at the American Embassy. Hadn’t started yet, so the crowd could grow.
People gathering for No Tyrants protest at the American Embassy in London. Very modern, and huge, embassy building in the background.

This a thread about one feature of the Trump Admin's EO regarding the Smithsonian that I haven't seen much explicit discussion of. The stated purpose for reviewing Smithsonian exhibits and collections is to ensure they align with something called "Americanism." That term has a notable genealogy.

The Senate passed the Murder Budget on the day the prez opened our first new concentration camp. July 4 should be a national day of mourning & of action to support & protect the vulnerable in our communities. @warren.senate.gov @markey.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov @sanders.senate.gov

1/6 Today, Jared Kushner spoke via @euronews.com Albania about the sprawling luxury resort he plans to build on the Vjosa-Narta Protected Area, key habitat for millions of migratory birds & other wildlife. His greenwashing of the project is unconscionable.

6/6 Please share my story and, when it's published, the petition, which I will also post here on BlueSky. Please help protect one of the Mediterraneans' last unexploited river deltas and its extraordinary wild creatures. Thank you so much. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/23/t...

500 or so energized people turned out for an Indivisible rally at First Parish Church in Concord, MA, this morning, featuring Leah Greenberg, local leaders, & enthusiastic musicians. A few photos. @maddow.msnbc.com
View of the steps of the First Parish Church in Concord, MA, with musicians singing a protest song & raising signs to support freedom of religion, speech, petition, the press. Hanging between the white columns of the church are banners that say "Black Lives Matter" and "We Believe in Democracy," plus a Pride flag.General crowd photo with one big sign that says "No Kings, No Fascists, No Tyrants, No Nazis."General crowd photo with two visible signs. One has photos of four presidents, with financial text. Clinton: I balanced the budget. Bush: I destroyed the economy. Obama: I fixed the economy. Trump: Glue is Yummy. Next to the person holding that sign is a woman holding one that has a profile drawing of a "handmaiden" in white cap and red garment, which reads "Blessed is the Fight."

Pictures from DC: 24-hr day RT from Boston via bus. Tired, but worth it! Felt almost festive: had the vibe of diverse people coming together to form a supportive community. Also, it was Sikh National / Baisakhi Day, so there was a march on Constitution Ave promoting a Sikh homeland called Khalistan.
Cherry trees in full bloom frame the Washington Monument in the background.First sign I photographed, and it made me cry. Teenager holds sign saying "Don't fire my dad." The word DOGE in black is crossed out in red. Sign with the heading "We the People" in script, plus hand lettering in blue that says "They want Germany 1936...let's give them France 1789." Person holding the sign is wearing a t-shirt that says "people power."Black sign board with applied letters that says "The only thing easier to buy in the USA than guns is a Republican senator."

Good turnout with high energy for #StandupforScience in Boston. Sharing two fun signs: an addition to the periodic table and a case for investing in parasite research. The crowd was younger & more diverse than the 50501 rallies & included calls for our leading universities & hospitals to speak up.
Black and white sign made to look like an element in the periodic table. Has the number 47 in upper right corner. The letters Wtf are the symbol, and the explanation is "The Element of Outraged Disbelief."
A sign with a caricature of RFK Jr. and text that reads "RFK Jr. A walking PSA for funding parasite research."

I spent 30 yrs in nonprofit conservation orgs & worked with EPA & all the natural resource agencies. Federal staff are dedicated, valuable experts & partners, who don’t deserve the cruelty inflicted by this administration. For them & all the targeted communities, we need to fight the bastards.
