"But please ask the question and know who’s going to have your back when this issue comes forward in the next term of city council with progressive new urbanists trying to push their agenda forward on you" Dilkens, threatening me with a good time

It's time to end Ontario's era of "Tall and Sprawl". Our archaic building code rules have resulted in housing that is uglier, more expensive, and with fewer units that make sense for families. By changing the rules, we can build communities more beautifully and affordably.

I really need Canadians to generally understand that every single time a Dem politician (moderate or otherwise) says “Dems lost because we abandoned the working class” that’s code that they’re gonna keep doing economic warfare against Canadians lmao

In grade 8 I remember doing an exercise where we formed groups, with each being given one of the colonies that attended Charlottetown, and then had to decide whether they should join confederation or not. My group got PEI and voted no, and were surprised to learn that's what really happened!

windsor.urbanist @plotsky.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Well, probably, and likely for the best. But even just the general decline in trade and cross-border uncertainty (what happens to TN visa holders? etc) is gonna disproportionately hurt around here

Yeah I mean I don't think no-deal would be the literal end of the world but it's really a question of how much will we be willing to do to help all the people who will be completely fucked by it? 2008 ruined a lot of people around here, and it's already pretty bad right now.

It's funny, in 2017 they all thought Trudeau was untouchable and O'Leary was a lock for the leadership so no one remotely competent even bothered running, just for SNC-Lavalin to break and have "No one asked if I was American" Scheer to fumble hard

Honestly I'm not sure if it's possible without our extremely strict party discipline. Carney did a 180 on a bunch of Trudeau's policies, and only seems to have lost Guilbeault who still vocally supports the government. Burnham meanwhile can't even turf Mahmood

Not that I'm a particular fan of Merz but uh he did literally form a coalition with the SPD over the AfD

Carney was literally living in the US a couple years ago. This is giving some real "Zelenskyy, the Russian-speaker who spent years living in Moscow, wants to genocide all Russians" vibes

No, they considered and planned for it multiple times after 1812, but thankfully cooler heads prevailed (and the British were more willing to give concessions as a potential war became less and less winnable for them over time)
