In 2025, I spent the year chipping away at learning pixel art to give RoA a more #retro and #anime aesthetic. For 2026, I plan to hammer out all of the story issues and plot each side quest. Life has been busy but I’ll keep chipping away :) #indiegame #gamedev

Thanks! I love how detailed Crono’s design is with so few pixels. I tried to make my character Makoto (top left) in a similar fashion with a bit of Hiro in there as well. Link is a core of every adventuring hero I think, but Link’s Awakening was a huge inspiration for everything else in my game :)

You’re so right! I considered it when working with the reference but it’s a level of detail that I don’t have in any of my other assets so I opted to leave it out. My canvas (and I think tiles in general) is a bit lower res too, so I took a while to get any semblance of leaf shapes to happen haha
