playing Gran Turismo 3 arcade mode this guy in a Vertigo hit the barrier on the first turn in Seattle reverse and just...kept his foot on the gas I think he died

A screenshot from Gran Turismo 3: A-spec running on PCSX2, showing the car described in the caption: a Vertigo Race Car with its front side splatted against a barrier. It is in first gear.

When I need to microwave something for a minute I'll put it in for a minute 30 and pull it at 30 just so the microwave don't think it can slack off

okay some actual thoughts on my gripes with this port cuz I'm still thinkin' about it

A series of Discord posts on the subject in the caption. They read as follows:

I think the biggest thing is that this version demands you put active effort into aiming at pretty much all times due to needing to maintain a consistent hand position where the Wiimote is pointed at the screen (or in my case, where the pad is in a neutral position)

Metroid Prime does not ask you to be aiming precisely at anything at all
and it has entire buttons dedicated to locking onto hostile targets and standing still and aiming at the odd couple things you need to do that for
(the former of which was retained in this port because JESUS CHRIST CAN YOU IMAGINE A LOCK-ON BASED GAME WITHOUT A LOCK-ON)

I know this was made for the New Play Control! line initially and Prime 3 doesn't have it either but I think this port would really have benefitted from an alternate control scheme that better mimics the original
maybe have tank controls on the stick by default and a free aim button on the nunchuck's C button?
and then relegate Morph Ball to another D-pad direction since you don't really need quick access to it most of the timefurther toughts I came up with in another server:

..or, just...let us use a GameCube controller.
for the GameCube game.
that already had perfectly good GameCube controller controls.

Happy birthday to Monika! Where are you headed for your club field trip?

An illustration of the Doki Doki Literature Club characters on a train together. In the front, Monika holds out her phone to show something to Natsuki, with the two sharing a pair of earbuds. In the back, Sayori is excitedly looking out the window, admiring a mountainous landscape, and Yuri is absent-mindedly glancing out the window as well, lost in thought.

When your desire is high but your coin fund is low. ;w; One of the artworks for the Popful Mail themed collectable cards in a set put out by Falcom in 2001.

Anime artwork with a cartoonish doodle feel with Popful rubbing her cheek and holding a fancy looking sword close to her while her companion holds up a rather slender looking coinpurse to the less-than-thrilled looking shopkeep.

Sonic Generations kind of just defined my taste in video games for a long while. kept me glued to the Xbox as a kid while also setting in stone what would long be my primary fandom and instilling in me that cartooney styles could be just as cool as realistic ones

If you see 'Super Mario Bros 0.3' among some shareware and demos on an Apple II GS hard disk image, then it's something that must be immediately investigated. And oh yes, it's as cursed as I hoped it'd be.

"Feel the wind in your hair..." Okay, there's a big anniversary today: the 40th since the release of Sega's sublime arcade racer OUTRUN! Sometime between today and the 25th in 1986, arcade goers were being taken on a Sega multi-route race for the first time. Share the OutRun love, peeps <3

From Sega Retro, a scan of an arcade flier with OutRun screenshot blown up and a photo of the arcade cable below it.

despite the difficulties, this was a lot of fun, and I'm thoroughly sold on this whole Archipelago thing. a collaborative element adds so, so much to the experience of a game I already love. I gotta get on some more of these some time
