We ignore highly upvoted feature requests all the time. We also build features people never asked for. Reason: product direction beats feature count. A popular feature request proves there’s demand for the feature. It doesn’t prove it belongs in your product. Our approach:

In the last few weeks, Plausible has kept 4 billion bot visits out of your dashboards. All the filtering happens automatically in the background to ensure your analytics show real, human visits and not bots.

Plausible now lets you make your funnels flexible! What does it mean? Your funnel shows a 40% conversion rate. But you're only counting people who completed every single step. A flexible funnel only marks your first and last steps as required. Everything between them becomes optional.

If you're collecting everything but still struggling to understand your website, that's not insight. That's noise. Better analytics doesn't mean tracking more things. It means answering basic questions without drowning in dashboards. What's bringing people here? What are they doing? What is..

Google Analytics doesn't run a charity. When analytics is free, someone is still paying. Yes, there's no subscription. No invoice. Millions of data points processed for you at no cost. But running analytics at that scale costs real money. With GA, you're just not the one paying. The people..

We just reached 21,000 paying subscribers, and without a sales team. Instead, we’ve spent years writing about what we stand for: • Analytics that respects privacy • Analytics that doesn't require a degree to understand • Who Plausible is made for, but also stating explicitly: who it is not for

Now you can see your revenue in funnels! See how many visitors completed a defined journey, how much revenue they generated, and the average revenue per visitor. Our goal: make sophisticated funnel analysis feel like normal web analytics.

Funnels have gotten another major upgrade: Earlier, you could only see funnels for a selected time range. Now, you can also compare them (each individual step) across different time ranges. Just enable comparison in the date range selector, and see how funnels perform through any custom range.

Plausible funnels before: a basic bar chart & info. Now: ✓ Cleaner visual layout ✓ Easier to scan ✓ gives more useful info at a glance You see what percentage of visitors reached each step, how many continued, and how many dropped off. The gray area visualizes the drop-offs. What do you think?

We improved our bot filtering over night so your stats won't get polluted. What's new? Bots have gotten smarter. They run real browsers, use residential IPs, have become better at mimicing actual visitor behavior. We identified several new patterns like these and updated our filters. We block ~2B

In a time where SaaS customers are automatically migrated to new plans costing up to 20x more, we still honor our grandfathered plans. 7 years in, some subscribers are still paying the price they signed up for years ago. We manually maintain those plans for them even as our pricing evolves. contd.

European companies prefer Plausible. You can host your website in Europe, choose European infrastructure and take GDPR seriously. Then load Google Analytics on every page and send your visitors’ data to Google. For companies trying to keep more of their data in EU, that increasingly doesn’t...

You don't need a hidden business model if you can keep a simple, clear relationship with your customers. You pay for a product. We build the product for you. We don’t need to monetize the personal data of the people visiting your website, and make the economics work. A happy Plausible subscriber:

Patience + trust in the process play a role here too. It took us 324 days to reach $400 MRR. Not $400k. $400. Another 9 months: $10k MRR. And 3 years after launching: $1M ARR. Today, more than 20k teams pay for Plausible. Still open-source. Still fully user-supported.

Customers make an open-source business financially stable, not donations. We tried to fund Plausible through donations. In 6 months, we got 6 donations. $5 each. $30 total. In the same 6 months, paid subscriptions grew from $400 to $8,500 MRR. Open source needs a business model, not a tip jar.

A VC firm accidentally became our press team. We’ve received hundreds of emails from investors over the years. We’ve said no every time. Being 100% subscriber-funded means we answer to the people paying for Plausible. No investor agenda to balance against theirs. The funny part?

Two analytics companies. Two data policies. Google: “...measure the effectiveness of advertising... and personalize content and ads...” Plausible: “Your data is not used for advertising, profiling or monetization.” Privacy isn’t a setting. It starts with the business model.

While indie hacker Twitter debated whether SaaS is dying, our July: • $22.2k in new MRR, our best month ever • MRR up 28.5% year over year • 20,183 paying subscribers AI may have made products easy to clone. Ours has been open source and free to clone since 2019. The code was never the moat.

"The cost of analytics is not the cost of your analytics subscription: it's the engineering time and cognitive overhead you put on yourself." People often compare analytics tools by monthly price. But that's rarely the expensive part. There is also an underrated cost: engineering time.

You can track ad performance without tracking people. Click a Google or Microsoft ad and the landing URL includes: `?gclid=...` `?msclkid=...` Those are unique click identifiers. Useful for attribution, but they create GDPR concerns when collected without consent. How Plausible handles this?

The best privacy feature is knowing there isn't a catch. You shouldn't need to dig through settings to see what's being collected. Or read fine print to understand what happens to visitor data. Privacy-friendly analytics should be simple enough to explain: • No cookies

Plausible dashboards are private by default. But if you want to be transparent, you can make your stats public with a toggle. Great for open startups, indie projects, public communities, and anyone who wants to share what’s happening. Private by default. Public when you choose.

Our landing pages look just like our blog posts. Text-first. No fancy layouts. No animations. Yet, they work the way we want them to. Helpful messaging beats trendy design when people actually need what you offer. If they don't get it from reading, scrolling through animations won't help either.

Most people treat low scroll depth like a failure signal. It's not. It depends on what the page is meant to do. Long blog post with low scroll depth and low time on page? Your intro probably doesn't match the headline. Blog index with low scroll depth + low time on page?

Your analytics might be logging personal data without you realizing it. Query parameters in URLs can accidentally contain search terms, session IDs, or email addresses. Most analytics tools collect everything by default. Plausible strips them automatically.

Most "EU-hosted" tools aren't EU companies. A tool can store data in Frankfurt while being run by a US company, using US infrastructure, with EU hosting as an optional add-on. "Where is the data hosted?" is just one question. Also ask:

Most SaaS companies hide their limitations. We just made a page listing ours. It's not anti-marketing, it's clarity. Plausible is built for a specific customer and there are some things that we'd never do: - Individual user tracking - Session recordings - Retargeting etc.

One of the questions we ask before building anything: "Does this help people understand their website?" If the answer is instead: • watch people • profile people • retarget people • collect invasive data ...it's probably not something we'll build.

Google Gemini traffic ≠ Google Search traffic. Mixing them inflates your organic numbers and hides how AI is actually finding you. In Plausible, they're tracked separately: • Gemini → AI Assistants • Google Search → Organic Search Your reports stay accurate. No guessing.

Subdomains are now visible in the Pages report. If you're tracking blog.yoursite, app.yoursite, etc., you can now break them down by URL and see exactly where visitors are landing. One script. One dashboard. Unified sessions across main domain and subdomains. ✓ Working on your existing data.

Plausible User Journeys lets you analyze entire sections of your website, not just individual URLs. Looking at blog? Choose "📁/blog" to see visitor paths across all blog posts combined, not each post separately. Or choose a specific blog post directly. Your pick. Same for /docs, /products, etc.
