Good news: the spring turned up. It had somehow bounced itself into the pocket of the shorts I was wearing! Better news: Turns out that's NOT a set-screw that's missing; it's just a hunk of metal that keeps the nippers from opening too wide. Easily replaced it with a piece of a paper clip!

Tragedy struck while putting Micolulu together: dropped my GodHand nippers onto the floor, and the spring shot off to God only knows where. Which revealed a second, more serious issue: the adjustment screw has also gone missing. All my building rooms are carpeted, so they're gone for good!

The teeny, tiny fine-adjustment lug is also missing, so even if I replace the spring, the nippers won't stay closed enough to keep it in place.

Bandai 30 Minutes Sister Marical gawps at a few boxed kits that will someday soon be her party members: healer Eliene-Elerica (with 30MF Lieber Priest accessories), paladin Yufia (with 30MS Minerva Costume and 30MF Knight accessories) and rogue Micolulu (whose 30MF Lie er Assassin/Slash accessories should hopefully arrive early next week). All characters (including Marical herself) will be getting custom paint, of course.

Kotobukiya's Megami Device PUNI⭐MOFU Gin Lang, wielding the hammer-like weapon stick common to all PMs, stands ready to spar.

Lang's Normal Mode outfit was painted with a base of Gaia EX Black, then coated with Gaia 121 Star Bright Silver, over which I layered some SMS HS02 Holoshift Astral. The silver base kinda eliminates the blue/violet part of the color shift, but it's still nice and prismatic in person.

Topcoated with SMS Chrome Finisher, after I applied a waterslide decal to the top.

Lang needs a moment after a knockdown.

Gin Lang's default faceplates are nice; really like her default stoic scowl. Here, she's wearing her flustered expression, which is the only one with a molded mouth. I ordered some SOL faceplates in skin color C to make some new ones for her, but haven't taken the time yet; the base model has some issues I'll need to address first, which I'll get into later.

After giving Kuro Mao and Yuki Tu sheer stockings to match their outfits, I knew I wanted to do some leggings for Gin Lang and (when she finally arrives) Kin Xiao, and given her color schemes and more adult proportions, I figured I'd make Lang's leggings a pair of black latex thigh-highs. It was super-simple; laid down some Gaia 074 Neutral Gray IV, shaded with Mr Color GX101 Clear Black, then added a coat or two to the overall stockings to adjust the tone (Neutral Gray IV might've *still* been a bit too bright). Topcoated with Gaia EX Clear, applied the waterslide to the right calf, then gave it a second topcoat for even more shine.

Excellent effect, but I *really* need to sand down the joints before I do it again; it's already chipped off in some areas on the knees.

The assembled and painted PUNI⭐MOFU Yuki Tu kit I finished a couple months back. Gin Lang's default color guide incorporates a lot of similar colors to Yuki Tu, and I don't want 'em looking too same-y.

I put the chronological list in the alt comment together by looking through the media tabs on both this and my main account, which reminded me that these accessories were the first thing I ever painted! Probably a good time to pick up the custom they're intended for!

The pistol, broom & sword accessories for Kotobukiya's Hoihoi-san New Edition kit, along with the assembly manual.

I painted these back in February/March, as I recall. The original plan was to do the most predictable custom paint job to the fully-assembled kit, but these were *just* enough trouble to encourage me to learn basically ANYTHING about using an airbrush before I tried taking on a full model. I'm muchore confident in my ability now, though; let's see if it's justified!

Cleaning day! Gave the booth a thorough wipe down, changed the filter, thinned those fluorescent paints next to the towel, threw all the pieces for Kuro Mao into the ultrasonic cleaner that just arrived today, and while that was buzzin' I deep-cleaned and soaped my acrylic & enamel brushes!

The modeling desk. The spray booth has been wiped down and has a fresh filter. A green-and-white kitchen towel takes up most of the work surface, on which are all the disassembled pieces of the PUNI⭐MOFU Kuro Mao model kit I'm gonna start painting this weekend. To the right is the ultrasonic cleaner the pieces just came out of.

On the pullout shelf on the lower right of the picture are dishes of mineral spirits, rubbing alcohol and water, next to six paintbrushes (three Kolinsky sable brushes I use for acrylics, and a couple GSI Creos & a GodHand brush I use for enamels) that have just been deep-cleaned and conditioned with a dish of B&J brush cleaner & conditioner.

Kotobukiya Puni Mofu Yuki Tu lounges in her armorless Normal Mode, after a stressful week of being disassembled, sanded, clipped, primed, painted and put back together again.

Hard to overstate how much of an upgrade this version of Tu is to her original, in my opinion. You'd figure a giant mark for ugly '70s design as I am, I'd find SOMETHING to like about a chocolate/avocado/tangerine bunny girl, but original flavor Tu is just *too* much.

One thing I DO prefer about the original design are the thigh-highs, though, so I decided I wanted to bring those back. Sanded down her thighs and the clear blue parts at the top of the stockings to suggest some skindentation, then proceeded to prime her legs in Surfacer Evo White. The original plan was to preshade them in blue before going over them with a satin-y white pearl coat, but I decided at the last minute that I wanted to make 'em sheer white instead. Naturally; that's *so much more of a pain in the ass* to figure out than regular ol' opaque tights.

In the end, I mixed up some skin color according to the recipe in the kit's color guide, and used that to pick out some spots on her thighs, knees, calves and feet where the stockings would be tightest, leaving the areas on the back of her knees, around her ankles, at the top of the thighs and above the knees a solid white color. I then went over the whole leg with a light coat of Mr. Color C62 Flat White, and finished it with a matte top coat. It's a subtle effect- maybe a bit too subtle for these photos- but looks dynamite in person!

Another thing I messed with: Skin shading! I'd been skipping any bare skin parts on these kits when I paint 'em, mostly so the faceplates don't end up mismatched. However, there IS another way: pastel shading!

More accurately, I went over the bare skin parts of the kit with some Chestnut powder from one of the figure-specific Tamiya Weathering Color kits. It's most obvious in this picture on her belly and inside her elbows, She's also got some color around those new thigh-indentions, and it came off a bit blotchy in some areas, but smoothed out OK after I hit her skin parts with some Mr. Color Lascivus C09 Smooth Pearl over-coat.

Love how expressive her twin-ponytails are. They're just a hinge joint on a shared peg, but you can get a wide variety of poses out of 'em all the same!

Speaking of her hair, I experimented with preshading on that as well! Primed it in the same Surfacer Evo White I used for her outfit, then hit it with some straight Mr. Color C006 Blue around the tips and shadowed areas. The main color is an 8:1 mix of Mr. Color Lascivus Aura CL106 Icy White and CL111 Azure, and it's just thin enough for much of the base-shading blue to shine through.

Could've probably gotten a less subtle effect if I'd used a darker blue or a violet, but given how light the rest of her color scheme is, it fits in pretty well!

Rather pleased about how the waterslide decals came out! Wasn't sure about how much use I'd get out of a desktop mini-vise, but it was a major contributor to getting these right! Just finished topcoating everything; gonna give 'em a few hours to cure and reassemble later tonight.

Waterslide decals from the extra Yuki Tu waterslide decal pack, applied to her abdomen, unarmored chest and right calf pieces.

The GT66 Mr. Vise desktop vise from GSI Creos. Clamped the aforementioned pieces in the cushioned pins of the vise, which freed up both my hands to get the decals properly positioned and set.

Puni⭐Mofu Kuro Mao's right paw, which has some pronounced divots on a few digits caused by overenthusiastic application of the God Hand nippers.

Chunks of dark brown runner marinate with some Tamiya Extra-Thin Cement in a spare 18ml bottle to create some sprue goo, with which I will repair a few flaws in Mao's figure.
