The way that folks are throwing disabled people under the bus in order to support AI is astounding. I use text to speech all time because I'm disabled but I never buy ai audiobooks and I will always buy human narrated books if its available.

Everyone needs to understand that the biodiversity crisis isn’t just some vague academic concern for ecologists to flap about, it’s literally a threat to our continued existence. Eg: bats die off, insect numbers explode, more insecticide is used, and babies die. www.science.org/content/arti...

In places where bat populations crashed, farmers sprayed more insecticides, and baby mortality spiked

Honestly I would like to find whoever it was who first posited into the public consciousness the idea that there is some sort of conflict between libraries lending books and authors getting paid, because I would really like to kick their ass in about it.

There are 1000s of unrealized works of art - literature, songs, poetry, etc. - rattling around the heads of people too busy working regular jobs to be able to fulfill their dreams. I contend there are more unknown masterpieces among these than will ever be produced by any machine.

one of my favorite tgcf headcannons is that while pei ming DOES sleep around a bunch, its way less than rumors say. the numbers get inflated bc he takes the credit for all the women ling wen sleeps with so she doesn't have to deal with the homophobia in heaven

honestly I've found the best way to get myself over my built-in normative bullshit on any level is to draw and write it. "but I want this character to be beautiful" make them a bunch of things you don't think you find beautiful and you'll find yourself expanding your horizons almost immediately
