I'm on the science team of the Lunar Environment Monitoring Station (LEMS), a compact, autonomous seismic station designed to be placed on the lunar surface on a future Artemis mission. This is an engineering mock-up of LEMS at GSFC yesterday. Its twin is going to the Moon. THE MOON, PEOPLE
LEMS is about a metre long, and is designed to be carried by an Artemis astronaut, placed on the lunar surface, activated, and then left to its own devices. It will operate for >2 years, has direct-to-Earth communications capability, and is solar powered.
