Some thoughts as we head back to middle school: 1. Listen to your kid. 2. Ask open ended questions about their day and show interest in their response. 3. Establish a routine where that kind of dialog can happen daily. 4. Turn off the wifi and take their electronics away by 10 pm. Every night.

Leadership by example matters. I teach middle school and I can attest that when the president is a crass bully, my students notice and feel like it gives them permission to emulate him. I want leaders who strive to bring out the best in America. #WeThePeople
