Incredibly f'ed up that a government employee is publicly targeting a private citizen for the crime of... doing life-saving research.

Would be cool if it was some type of intamolecular DA, that alkene seems like a pretty hot dienophile (probably just oxidation though).

What happened if someone went into a long, academic explanation about how race is a social construct?

Some molecules, such as amino acids, exist as two variants that are each other’s mirror image. However, living organisms only contain one of these mirror images. How chemical asymmetry such as this could have emerged was long a mystery to chemists.

2026 physics laureate Francis Halzen realised that ice at the South Pole could be used to track particles known as neutrinos. His vision and scientific leadership have been fundamental for the IceCube Neutrino Observatory – a cubic kilometre of ice that is equipped with light sensors.

Cosmic neutrinos with extremely high energies are very rare, so an enormous volume of ice is needed to observe an adequate number of collisions. The IceCube Neutrino Observatory covers an entire cubic kilometre and was finished in 2011.

Not at all comparable, but back in 2013, when my expensive road bike got stolen on campus—thieves cut through the metal lock—I tried filing a police report with the CUPD, and the officer was really dragging his feet.

What do you think happens with this if a Democrat becomes the President? And assuming they restore the "norms", does the next Republican administration revert back to Voughtism? Doesn't seem like a sustainable way to fund the federal government.

OMB's focus on NIH and NSF, which has confused a lot of folks, pretty much boils down to stopping money going to universities.

So, I teach organic and I am doing MOs now, and honestly this might be the last time. Our approach and the students' needs have changed significantly in the last few years and MOs just don't click at all. Obviously, talk to your colleagues teaching organic, but I'd say "none" is probably good.

Not a strong endorsement of the Arab Spring; but It's true that the social media has become a tool of authotitarian control and surveillance, when at one time it looked like it would help usher a new era of democratic liberation.
