OSSOFF: How weak a person do you have to be to be unable to stop someone under your own roof from disseminating neo-Nazi propaganda while you run for Senate? COLLINS: Will you denounce Reid Hoffman? O: If he was based in my house, then I'd understand you asking me to take responsibility for him

I of course don’t know but I suspect those 3 components are what kicked our evolution into high gear and aided consciousness. AI may have some higher order capability ( although a lot of it is mass copying and processing), but that is it.

I think you may find it interesting to read about our brain systems and how they work situationally and over time to do more than just scraping and processing of mass content provided by others. They balance survival, belonging and higher order thinking. It is what makes us human.

It is magic religious stuff. AIs can scrape human communications and mimic the evidence of the existence of a soul. That is all.

It is very Lilly Pulitzer looking! Pretty!

They can mimic frustration, based on what they scrape from humans. None of this is coming from inside their individual machines, much less a "self" of any sort.

I think it may be silly. These are programs running on computers. They scrape things created by humans and mimic them. They aren't independent, conscious beings.

It also a very expensive one. $35 a month. Too bad.

I wonder if there’s a possibility of lawsuits alleging cruel, and unusual punishment? I also feel like there should be some privacy rights for his family, etc..

Seems like the DOD in wartime should be focused on bigger issues than TV shows but I guess that is his safe and comfy zone

Also, lots of kids in their early 20s work in competitive professions where it can take a year or more to get your foot in the door. I had a son who was trying to get into the US Senate and a nephew who was trying to get into the music industry. Some kids do nonprofit work or travel.

As it is my small business, Microsoft exchange account is getting hacked repeatedly, even though I have an Authenticator. AI hacking bots are going to create a consumer technology crisis.

They seem to forget there is no electoral college at the state level to radically magnify the impact of rural voters.

There is a subset of this and one that extends beyond to that really bought his Apprentice schtick and thought he would make them rich. Big chunk of those have fallen off but some still believe.

And for their personal benefit. The idea is if you believe and try hard, you should get all sorts of tangible rewards in terms of health and wealth.

The the Protestant Church has much less social justice theology than the Catholic Church. On top of that, even angelical, began skewing heavily towards health and wealth theology in the 1900s. That theology doesn’t have much room for social justice. It’s more of a personal contract with God.

Not for midterms but we have had turnout issues in the general.

@PJLM @pjlm.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
Perhaps the only reason Trump won the popular vote was low turnout in blue states

Turnout was also an issue in 2024

One of my favorite things about Massachusetts referendum questions is ridiculously complex they are. We’ve always had a tradition with our family friends who are more conservative than we are that at Thanksgiving, we would discuss the referendum questions and how we all voted.

I generally don’t think you should talk about women’s personal appearances when you’re at work. It’s fine to say something light like “ that’s a great outfit” if you know them well, but that’s about as far as it should go.

Yes, because when you’re a politician at work, you are supposed to focus on your work and be generally respectful of the people you serve. That means not commenting on the personal attributes of random people that you have encountered. This is a guy who’s never actually worked for someone.
