@espn.com the sound effects on the new(?) ESPN+ commercial break screen are INCREDIBLY annoying. What's wrong with silence? Why are you making me either reach for the remote or be forced to listen to gale force winds, footsteps, and random slamming doors? One person's ASMR is another's torture...

Considering there's no way to reasonably track this, it can't last very long. It places an undue burden on restaurant and bar staff and doesn't work in a world where people buy bottles, pitchers, and shots for a table or share drinks w/ friends. It also brings into question what constitutes a drink.

@espn.com Your ESPN+ produced sound mix for hockey games is incredibly distracting. I don't want it to feel like the game is being played in a museum except when something happens and you ratchet the crowd noise to 11. Hearing players shouting and on ice sounds more clearly isn't worth it.

The message I'm getting here is that it's wrong to download a single album, movie, or ebook, but if you do it millions of times, that's "data science" and you're hailed as a genius for shitting out another LLM "AI" thingy.

This article speaks for itself, so I'll just add that it's not xenophobia to care about your privacy and the security of your info and not trust upstarts like DeepSeek who are being applauded for cheaply cutting corners. Turns out basic InfoSec is one of those corners. Triple DES in 2025? Really? 🤦

I'm not gonna lie, the only thing I ever used Tumblr for back in the day was porn 😂 Tumblr feels like an old school social networking platform more in the vein of MySpace and it's a shame that people aren't as interested in that structure anymore and it's pretty different than TikTok.

Absolutely, the feeds you can build and subscribe to on Bluesky are really great and I find the main feed more useful than Mastodon's too. I also like how easy it is to subscribe to lists for following and blocking people here. This place is pretty friendly for non technical people.

Why do they think they can do this again when the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled previously it violates the Oklahoma Constitution? Newsflash, Christofascists, the Oklahoma Constitution hasn't been amended. And if it's amended in a way that excludes other religions, it's invalid by the US Constitution.

Why do we need 350,000 churches in America? Why do Christians need exclusive dominion over public spaces? I don't think this guy understands that he and other Christian nationalists are turning people off of Christianity.
010
Stu @pit.ninja · 10/12/2024
I started realizing Christianity was bullshit gradually and then I slowly moved from agnosticism to atheism. I wouldn't say I ever needed deconstruction. But I've definitely had a process of rebuilding an identity and finding a community in Satanism, which is something I was missing as an atheist.

If Americans are united in hating health insurance, they need to fucking vote. Don't stay home. Vote against the party that wants to repeal a major piece of legislation that's made health insurance better over the last 15 years. Vote for the party that wants universal healthcare. It's that simple.
060
Stu @pit.ninja · 10/12/2024
It's only apolitical for those who haven't been paying attention. One party wanted universal healthcare and settled for the ACA, which was at least undeniably a step forward. The other party has repeatedly tried to kill the ACA. Anybody voting for the GOP or abstaining is partially at fault here.

I'm not sure if people are aware, but Brian Thompson wasn't anywhere close to being a billionaire. I see several sources saying he was at ~$43 million net worth. That's a lot of blood money, but billionaires are on a whole different level. Still squishy, but they definitely all have armed security.

I'd love to say I'm optimistic this will actually lead to meaningful change, but I just can't be optimistic when America collectively decided last month that the party with "concepts of a plan" to repeal and replace the ACA should be in charge of everything. People will forget about this in a month.
