A follow-up on Control Resonant. I had two quests in a row bug out. I don't know if I'll be able to finish them. That's ROUGH, man. If it were anyone other than Remedy I would just try to refund the game.

Speaking of the CW, this is all but guaranteed to be a good read.

I'm a ways into Control Resonant and I have some thoughts. What I like: Dylan, the Remedy Vibes, some of the art direction, the pace of combat. What I don't like: the map, some of the art direction, parts of the open world.

Last night, I played Funnel Runners, a coop game about storm chasers. In this game, you ransack a neighborhood for van parts, and then you leave. The game isn't very fun, though it had some funny moments. But the whole thing is very gray and very loud, as you would expect.

If you're not rich, real estate is gambling, NOT investment. It used to be, but it isn't any more. Not for at least like 20 years.

I followed Resident Evil with Weapons, which I hadn't seen. I'm still parsing it, but I really liked it. I've been fucking with Letterboxd lately as I try to watch more movies, if anyone wants to be letterbuddies: boxd.it/7lxvx

This! You can be impressed with how Valve treats customers while also keeping this in mind--they're still a company focused on profit. They're not doing this because they're cool. They're doing it because they have an ultra-dominant marketplace that spits out money by the millions.

If Aurebesh is the written language in Star Wars, how do things like X-Wing, T.I.E. Fighter and C-3PO make sense? I don't think about Star Wars very often these days, but when I do, it's this. And the weird morality around droid treatment.

The whole thing is unsustainable, and so much of it falls to the endless pursuit of photorealism at all costs, and to studios imitating Rockstar development practices without any reasonable chance of attaining Rockstar success.

My thumbs have been hurting again, so I've been watching movies instead of gaming. Mostly bad stuff: Normal, Green Lantern, John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness, Halloween 3: Season of the Witch.

I'm becoming increasingly convinced that cloud-based gaming will become the dominant way to game over the next decade or so. It's not because people don't want to own PCs or consoles, but rather because they simply cannot afford them. I don't think RAM prices will go down anytime soon.

It seems like no one I know is playing Ghost of Yotei. I have a lot of thoughts on it, especially in relation to Assassin's Creed Shadows. but at this current moment, I'm fighting Takezo the Unrivaled, who is based on Miyamoto Musashi.

I have issues with Silent Hill f, but by and large it's an EXCELLENT game. It feels authentically Silent Hill while doing its own thing. Hinako is an interesting protagonist, and the game tries to tangle with thoughts about gender and relationships through the lens of 1960s Japanese culture.

SCOOP from me: Trump's AI action plan released last week makes a specific set of recommendations around loosening Clean Water Act permits for data centers — recommendations mirrored in letters sent to the administration by Big Tech lobbyists earlier this year:

I'm trying to finally finish House of Leaves. I stopped reading it because the narrator sucks real hard. The fiction about the house itself and the Navidson family is super compelling, but Johnny is just the far end opposite. And in between that, 200 pages of footnotes.

The fact that itchio is looking into alternate payment options and talking about all this like an ongoing situation instead of being like "these are the new rules and always will be, fuck off" says a lot about how much they care about this. I know you want to yell at them but they're working hard
