I also don't mean being erased from existence. They simple fade to black and disappear. It's among the worst fates we fear. Everything just ends. It's a morbid thought, for sure. So basically, your soul CAN live on, but should its container break... you lose everything AND risk hurting others.

This is, of course, assuming some kind of afterlife exists in the Pokemon universe. Personally, I like to think one does. We've seen spirits in several mediums. But a Soul Dew breaking... might just mean disappearing entirely. No afterlife. No purgatory. No free roam. No reincarnation. Nothing.

I think in corruption, the soul would probably be forever pained or even go berserk. That's why the Soul Dew breaks when touched. There's no longer a stable essence present there. So it lashes out upon feeling ANYTHING. As for breaking... I think then the worst we fear of death awaits: Nothingness.

But to have the ability for one's soul to continue to exist in a physical form, there must be some kind of cost, wouldn't you think? Said soul is also still capable of feeling and even responding to its surroundings, whether it's consciously or unconsciously. They can still feel and respond.
